man, we are on same wavelength. i was reading an article about closed loop alcohol extracts and it had 3 methods. first two were pretty shitty and the third one was this miracle extract craft deal. went to the website and saw the price and said, fuck man, i can buy 4 cases of everclear for that much.

i had a luxor copy and that bitch was huge, way too big for my area. had to reduce down to 2 slim line 6" air cooleds instead

If you're gonna waste everclear like that you should look into the licensing to distill your own "fuel" . A friend just got his and I think he's allowed to distill 10k gallons of "fuel" a year.

i'm still checking out a diy rosin press too. a neighbor has a press i can borrow so just need the plates/temp controllers

The press is the cheap part unless you buy a Dake. I bought a Dake from Grainger then looked around and found them cheaper elsewhere. The plates are affordable unless you have to have 710snob . I'd like to get into distillation since with that form of extraction everything is separated .
I see 710snob will get you into that for several thousand. I'll probably pass, me and glass shit do not mix.

So lowtemp says theres no difference between dual and single controllers. Since they are a business to make, money and selling dual controllers make more money should one believe this?

Ive read lots of conflicting theories.

Have you tried both? Which one did you find to be better?

I know you said you run dual, but you also, bought it second hand so I gotta ask.

I wanted a new set of plates from lowtemp and every time I'd tell the guy I wanted something he'd space it off so I got tired of waiting around and found a set of 3by5 lowtemps with single controller on craigs, I could easily add another monitor for the other plate myself but decided it wasn't that important unless a heater goes out , that's the only reason I wanted a dual controller. That and keeping top and bottom plates at the exact same temperature.

With single controller you're assuming both plates will be at the same temperature when in reality that won't be the case, I'm sure they'll be close but what it amounts to is you're cycling the plate without the thermocoupler based on the temperature reading of the plate with the thermocoupler. Say you flip the switch on and get preoccupied with something else, if the plate with the thermocoupler has a bad heater then the other plate is going to stay on until it fails, these are 500 watt heaters so I imagine in that scenario shit would get a bit hot until finally the other heater burnt out. Why you would leave it on and unattended I don't know but shit happens.

squab with roasted potatoes .............yummmmm...........think of the $$$ saved on the defense spending, lol

I'm not leaving the stealth closet seeing everything that's going on in the "legal" states........nothing new for us east coasters though, since they installed smart meters last year I've been draining the electric hot water tank at random times during the day, love long showers:).........paranoia really with my small wattage spike, still, it's a healthy tendency in this "hobby" imo

db is squishing, nice.........how are your plants grower???

Well see how they turn out. Already, bought em.

$360 shipped with a dual controller. Cheapest I could find. A 3x6 was gonna run $440. $100 cheaper than low temp.

The dake 10 ton is on backorder on zoro. They are running a 25% off though right now. $258 shipped. Ordered and it comes in when it comes in I guess? Cannot beat that price. Grainger wants like $430

I just don't like the way the plates are made two piece, any other plates are solid aluminum blocks , they'll more than likely work I suppose, look at how others use hair straightners and bar clamps.
