The Fairness Doctrine ...

Yeah Rather than face the truth Vi would rather impugn other's view points.
Dank ...

Instead of just being shitty, why not at least try to get the point?

The Mainstream media and the Ultra-Left are no longer relevent. They are tearing their own house down. The people have wised up to them ... and instead of cleaning up their own house, they want to silence debate.

With all due respect, that's the gist of the cartoon, Dank. :)

Really Vi Last I check the House and the senate are still controlled by the left.

I have shown you the link many time, I submit that the majority of the Media is owned By right wing interest.
also tell me, how many mainstream (non satellite) radio stations have left wing talk shows? Not many...
You know you should take a listen to Phil Hartman on Air America, he says a lot of things you may agree on.

Dank ...

The Congress and Senate may have a Democrat majority at this time, but it is hardly controlled by the ultra-left. In fact, the ultra-left base is screaming like bloody banshees because nothing is being accomplished that was promised to them prior to the last election.

And, I agree that the media is owned by conservative or right wing interests. While that's true, the majority of commentators freely admit to being left-wing. I think the figure is 86% of media commentators voted for democrat candidates.

And the reason left-wing talk shows don't survive is because of lack of talent and lack of entertainment value. Talk radio is market driven. In other words, if the ratings aren't there, sponsors won't pay to keep the shows on.

That's rather funny, I find a lot of what's on Air America very entertaining.
Phil Hartman makes a lot of good points on his show. Randi Rhodes is like the Liberal Ann Coulter (and a lot better looking I might add), Rachel Maddow gets right down to the Nuts and Bolts as far as political news.

Anyway, You are assuming that Liberal Media isn't entertaining.
The problem is you you have to have satellite radio or listen to it on the internet.

Well, I don't disagree with you at all regarding Air America. George Soros funded it until it finaly went bankrupt. I'm sure those on the ultra left would find it entertaining, but there just aren't enough people on the ultra left to support it ... other than through via satellite radio or on the Internet. Its been proven through trial and error to not be viable over regular broadcast sources.

But the point was the attempt to revive the Fairness Docrine by the ultra libbies. Their feeling is that the federal government should be brought into play to destroy their competition ... in direct violation of the First Amendment. Their attitude as usual ... free speech for me but not for thee.

Air America is still out there Vi, It's the Conservatives who want people to believe it's not out there anymore and it's bankrupt.... It's alive and well, they just weeded out the inferior talent. The current line up isn't as ultra-liberal as you may think. I'd say that Phil Hartman is pretty much middle of the road on most things, except Health Care. (my pet subject)

I wish I had time to listen to Air America, Dank. Fox News is about as far left as I can go. *lol*

Have you watched Fox News lately, Dank? I don't think President Bush was very happy with Fox News during the administration's attempt to get the Amnesty Bill passed.

I've been lurking around a while just reading posts. I wanted to respond to this thread, though.

It really doesn't matter whether the MSM or talk radio or whatever it is, is controlled by the left or the right. What matters is the free market. Regulation like the Fairness Doctrine restricts freedom, and puts the power in the hands of the Feds. That is never a good thing. I'm a right-wing libertarian, so I'm basically against anything and everything the government does, but I think Democrats and Republicans and whoever else should realize what people like Kucinich and Sanders want to do, which is control access to what you get to hear. That is what they do in places like Venezuela and North Korea.

Hey, thanks. I would expect on a forum like this that the lefties would greatly outnumber the rest. Damn hippies.
*lol* ... I know. That's what's usually thought about pot smokers/growers, that they are all ultra-libbies. The facts are though, you have to have a brain to grow successfully and liberalism is a mental disorder.

The neo-cons are running out of friends, yes. Paleoconservatives are doing fine (as fine as you could expect), and conservative Democrats here in places like Alabama are still running things.
