The Gas Company showed up without notice

He handed me this and said to call them to schedule him to come back out. Or else they will shut my service off. I can’t have my service shutoff...so I gotta work all night long now and make the place vanilla again. I work all day tomorrow so my night and day are going to be a bit of a drag.
Yes you do!

It should be noted that the Gas company, By LAW, has to inspect and/or replace the meter every 15 years as per Federal regulation.
Maybe it's every 12 on replacement.....But it is legit for those underground natural gas line's and meter users!

They were there to do their job. NOT spy on you....

Clean up and don't stress it....Comply and their gone for YEARS again!

I imagine gas meter guys driving around from house to house hoping someone will be home. I imagine all this time and gas spent doing this with a list of addresses to service. Returning daily with reports of no service performed even after a day of driving around. For decades maybe...until
they think to call first.
I call bs, not on op, just in generalo_O

Drive by gas meters - not yet in anywhere I know of.

Electric meters/drive by. I have them on every metered building I own or lease.....
They have them here. Gas company had to come out and replace the batteries in our gas meter. Has a good distance also. Said they can get a reading while doing 60 mph down the road. I never have anyone come read a meter here. Electric, gas or water.

I was visiting a friend in city. They came up and knocked for the same reason there.
It was not sweat. Legal med grow, in #'s. In another room....
Let them in.
They explained the deal and that's how I know about this issue. They checked the lines and the meter. Told him they were going to change the meter and helped him shut off the pilots in the house. Changed the meter and lit the pilots for him again.

I suggested they should call first. They said they get far less cooperation that way. Go figure?

Huh, Were just old school around here. I mean my gun club has just expanded our club house and they came out and had to move the meter. No new fancy one here.

Interesting WW...

Drive by's are for rural with bad cell reception and no WiFi in area. I declined WiFi access to our electric company. They drive by here.

Does the responsibility/ownership of the 'Gas" stop at the point of ignition?
Are they are checking CO ppm as well as providing results? If not :finger:

Ours is the old school big heavy meter. It has a little retrofit thing on it that takes batteries.

I called the gas company and asked why I received no notice. They said it was a mistake, however they do need to come inside they said because my meter hasn’t been checked in a while. I completely shut it down and moved everything that same night. I don’t have anything in my house that shouldn’t be there lol. I’ll be busy as soon as they leave resetting everything back up.
