Here we are starting another grow with some nice genetics.

THE HOG, from TH Seeds

THE HOG

Originally from Tennessee, The Hog™ ventured out to So-Cal over 10 years ago and gained quite a following. Loved by some and hated by others (for being too strong?!). The Hog™ is our quintessential Indica, short in stature (90-110 cm) with an above average yield (400+ p.s.m.) The Hog™ is perfect for experts and beginners alike, so get your hands on one of these little piglets and soon you will be making bacon and livin’ high on the Hog™.
Specs

Type Indica
Height 120-140 cm
Yield 300 p.s.m.
Flowering Time 55-60 days

Just got a ten pack of these from a kind soul that will remain unnamed... You know who you are.

First time in a while that im using regular seeds, not feminized, so it'll be a change of pace, even though i usually veg long enough to see pre flowers.

So this is day 1 of germination. Goin with the tried and true paper towel method.

Runthrough of my equipment:

Air pots form 1L-10L

Promix soil

Blue Planet Nutrients: 7-part, really only use 4 of them all the time and the 3 additives periodically

SNOW STORM ULTRA: controversial, but ive seen the results with my own two eyes.

(FLOWER)

600 watt digital ballast w/cooltube and hps buld

4x4x6.5 grow tent w/fans and dehumidifier when necessary

(VEG)

400 watt magnetic ballast (hps) with Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH) bulb

Euro A/C reflector w/fans

(CLONE)

2x15 watt cfls in a 1x2x1 box

Heat mat w/nursery tray, humidity dome, perlite

Feel free to comment and ask questions.

In the meantime take a look at a few of the other links in my sig while we wait for this one to kick off.

Ill try my hardest!

Im debating on topping them off the rip but then again since theyre regs im not too sure i should.

Gotta take a few hours and redo my room. Throw in the window AC and tidy up all the shit everywhere from last harvest.

I can keep my place spotless but the second i harvest its like i couldnt care less if in standing in 3 inches of dirt. hahaha

I remember them being nute sensitive so go very easy on the fertilizer early on and go slow when raising ppm. I remember it being busy, but don't remember if I topped them or not.

I don't remember much stretch at all........they stayed pretty short but I don't remember specifics. I pinched once and they stayed on the short side, don't remember much else except they were nute sensitive and I was unhappy with the grow. You'll do better if you go easy with them!

Thanks! i usually try to do strains that i both like and have very little journal entries so i can further educate the masses.

My favorite though is taking seeds from companies that people hate on all day (gh for example) and put their strains to the test.

Cause im not afraid to say "well i spent the last 3-4 months growin out pure and total shit" "never buy this seed"

haha i wouldnt say never but i just always like helpin out the internets.

Tryin to repay the constant debt of 5+ years of questions and answers.

So many times i would find an awesome sounding strain with no reviews or grows. And honestly its stopped me from buying certain strains.

So pull up a chair and this shit should be poppin off in about a week.

Oh! also what was the final cost on that diy led? i read it over a few times but didnt have the patience to calculate it haha.

also how much time and effort/troubleshooting did you have to do? i always calculate that into the building of anything.

After learning the hardway that building one grow box costs about as much as one grow tent... hahaha

Live and learn

My chair`s in place mate, haha, as for the LED, gotta forward it to KAW, his thread. I just had no problem doing a little marketing as I end up in many places, haha. I recall him saying it was in the neighbourhood of $2000 for the LED, the rest I`m unsure, but he`d be glad to tell ya. +Rep for your educational approach and good luck,

UGH. So out of all the seeds only 2 popped. one had a tiny root comin out about 1/4" long and the other had about a half inch to 3/4 inch root comin out

planted both into promix and its been about a week and only one has sprouted.

So as long as she grows and is a female ill be able to keep this thread alive.

Shes been under the cmh for about a week and a half because it took her almost a week to pop.

these seeds are over a year old and free so its no big loss.

Im probably gonna grab 4 critical hogs in the near future to run alongside the original HOG. Maybe if i get a male ill save some and backcross the critical hog with a lil extra hog hahaha.

Never really chucked pollen but with something with similar genetics would be nice to get some good seeds of pretty equal growth/smoke/yield

That would work nice BB. I would be trying to cross your Critical Hog back to a Critical+ or even a Hybrid Sativa containing those genetics to maybe give her some more vertical? Seems to pack buds pretty tight, if you could expand her upwards and out with breeding you may have some sweet, sweet smoke there boss ;). I`ll see if I can come into any of these beans, we`ll try to make it happen for ya. Keep it coming, best of luck,

That sucks..........I expected the germination % to go down a bit, since the beans were getting long-in-the-tooth- but that ratio is really bad. What a waste of $$$$$$$$, they weren't cheap. Hope it's a female for you.

SO the one out of 2 that popped a root finally started taking off. it sat still for about a week and a half with only its 2 starter leaves and the first pair or serrated ones.

And now its been boomin doubling in size every couple days.

I recently moved into an apartment so i havent had time/money to hook up internet so i can only post when i get to a friends house.

Im about to order critical hog seeds today or tomorrow and hopefully start those before the months over.

ALSO! its some sort of mutant. At first i thought it was one that grows 3 branches per node but after it grew a little taller it started growing like a clone does with alternating nodes.

Put a damper on my attempt to top it a few times.
