How much have I saved, a lot. I grow the same strain as my LP. My first ever order with a LP had 3 or 4 seeds in it lol. I thought when I tried it it was pretty good. So I grew it myself, OMG the difference between myself growing it and them. It's like night and day.
So my LP currently sell the strain I'm growing at $15g or $6810 a pound.
It's not how much I've saved, It's now I can afford my meds
If I was to fulfill my prescription for the year it would cost me over $19,000 (I guess next year I can add a few more grand in tax to that number)
So I can spend almost 20,000 grand on sub par meds or I can grow my own. I also find gardening helps with my anxiety.
Cheers

Funny, I was thinking about this yesterday as my GF was asking me how much it costs to run all my shit (indoor). Her GF spends $500/month with an LP just for smoking material, and we know what that's like quality-wise!! I have 32 sq. ft of flowering space, 32 sq. ft. of veg/clone/seedling space, 4 sq. ft. dedicated to breeding. 1,600w of LED lights, say 2000w total with fans and shit. All-in it costs me around $200/month total, or the equivalent of buying a little over 1/2 an ounce of LP schwagg per month. With my setup I have a never ending over-supply of ~20 strains (I pull and average of 1.5 lbs. per run depending on what I'm running like clones vs. from seed/pheno hunts, 6-7 times a year), make my own seeds/strains, make whatever type and amount I want/need of edibles like caps, tinctures, sift etc. I don't consider my capital as whatever I've spent on equipment is a) written down though my business so there's a tax benefit and b) I'll sell the odd qtr. to a close buddy to pay for upgrades.

So, if you're buying from LP's at their rates, invest <$2000 in a nice setup, another $100/month in operational costs and have as much as you want, whatever strain you want, no pesticides or irradiation, and pay for it within 6-12 months just on savings depending on how much you're buying from LP's today. Winner imo, besides the clear benefits, sticking it to the LP's and Trudy is a bonus.
My first run for our medical was not the best pot (plant hermied and seeded the rest), but that first run paid for the system/lights in terms of medicine produced if you had to buy at LP prices. A few odds and ends required for each cycle like Rockwool, soil, nutrients, etc. nothing major. The second cycle was all gravy and we really produced well for our space. As others have mentioned too, there is huge therapy in growing this plant as well. Psychological and physiological, because when you feel well you get well too. I was so mad after being poisoned by the two LPs I was signed with, just knowing that I sprayed nothing but love on these plants makes every doob taste awesomer.

That's true, I worded the OP incorrectly. For many it is not about saving money it is simply about being able to afford to take the medicine that helps them. Even those who can afford to purchase their medicine from LPs could surely spend their money in better places like for their family or anywhere else rather than being forced to buy overpriced meds.

My wife couldn't believe the prices LPs were charging us per OZ (300) . And the Poison BUNK they were pushing.
Let's just say we are laughing all the way to the bank right now and hope that others are in the same position.
We obviously started our indoor so hopefully we never have to count on anyone esle. Trying to keep the ball rolling.
Let's say I was buying a HP from BM for 1000 bucks ( cuz I was forced to with prices of LPs and the poison ) every month which saves me 12000 right off the bat. .
My outdoor yeilded 12 smokeable pounds. And 4 pound for oil lol.

they can and will try things that would make it more difficult to grow your own. For example Alberta is trying to limit homegrown to indoor, no outdoor allowance
they have already done this in certain counties in Oregon, some parts of the state are still NO REC at all,, the state allowed conties and cities to "opt out" and about half the state did opt out,, so while many think Oregon is MJ Legal,, its only 50 percent right ,, hahaha,, and there are people in those opt out areas who have to drive for many hours to a legal section to buy thier weed and drive back home, its still legal for them to have the MJ , they just cant grow it or sale it,,
