The Main-Lining Thread

I use the Nebula method and if you look back to my dried weight on my first attempt, I nearly got a full pound with only a 400 w bulb and 5 plants in 5 gallon pots.

Attempting to beat it this time by better canopy management. But a new strain and new learning curve might not allow for that.

Anyhow, I'm topping for 8 tonight and have decided to use an "anchor line" setup to hold and shape the lower branches. Has anyone else had success with something like this?

And yes, they're getting caged up after the chop.

Also, look at what one week difference makes if you notice the plants in the background topped for the initial 2 branches. They sprouted only 7 days after the main plants in these pictures.

Enjoy and happy Friday!

Digging that wiring technique man, good stuff.

Don't worry to much about getting it right the first time. You are going to break off some tips and cut too much growth off.

It takes a few times with the same strain to understand how to make it work best for your situation.

You want the plant to be growing fast when you cut it back the first time. That way it will keep growing fast.
You want to keep more foliage for a while to keep the plant happy.
You want the plant to stretch in flower so you can get some nice long colas.

Cheers,
Mo

good idea with ties

Has anyone else tried toping a clone the same time you made the clone? I'm about two weeks in trying to have a race between from seed when it hit dirt then using nugs mainlinging and from when clone was made and also topped to see if the pre-topped clone is any faster. Pre-topped clone is in he double solo cup I got so I can check roots. Now the one from seed is exactly a week ahead but I can't top it yet technically. Update of my current v-8.

First post here. First grow. I've had success with vegetable gardens and about a dozen fruit trees over the last few years, but knew next to nothing about cannabis cultivation until a few months ago when I got sick of dudeman's awful customer service and decided to take matters into my own hands after copious hours of research...

Feminised: 1x Incredible bulk (80/20), 2x Pakistan Valley (100% indica), 2x Cheese candy (80/20)

Picked mainline method (Nebula variant). Bought: 4x4x7 tent, 1000w mh/hps cooltube, Vortex s line 6" fan that pulls from tent and exhausts through attic to soffit vent, FFOF with azomite/castings/aged compost/extra perlite additives. Feeding Maxibloom every other watering since ~week 2. Final buckets are ~6.5 gal totes (because 'Merica).

Pics here are after 6 weeks veg (from germ).

Next post's pics are from today's 8 week mark, just changed timer to 12/12. Hope I got that timing right. If not tell me now!

Here's 8 weeks since germ. ~8 days since I trimmed the lower growth and left most fan leaves. Height ranges from 14" tallest (inc bulk), to 11" Cheese Candy. Planning to leave MH lamp in for the first week or so of 12/12.

All leaves look nice and green, PH and nutrient levels seem perfect. No discoloration or other weirdness to worry about yet.

How am I looking? Right timing for flip?

Awesome thread, I've been through every page! Mohican your pictures make me drool, and Fred we have somewhat similar setups so I followed yours with interest. Thanks to all for the tips and info!

So thanks to all the mainline folks
.
Preliminary results:
Buds were put into jars yesterday so they will dry a bit more but they have been drying in a shed for a week for a slow cool dry at temps in the 60's day and 50's at night.
332grams of legit main colas(I mainlined 5 plants in 5 gallon buckets) and I had three other plants in 1 gallon buckets all in a 4x2 tent with a 190 cfm hurricane fan and a 4x16 mountain air filter.

I lost one California Orange plant to Hermies(6th one).
And I chopped one California Orange in a 5 gallon and 1 in a 1 gallon at 8 weeks because of security breech.

oh and 71 grams of larf

I will NEVER go back to my 1000hps even though I never had DE1000. My heat was lower and my draw was lower. I estimate 12oz of real bud.

This was my first main line from seed but this technique is the real deal if you have a limited space and a limited number of plants.

Thanks Again

Hey man great job!! I also use a 4x2 with 520 actual wattsLED. Running 4 plants mainlined to 8. I harvest in 1 weekish.

What kind of light are you using? I read back maybe I missed it. What was your gpw? I average .75/gpw.

I harvested one plant already. It came in at 3.25 oz. it was 2 weeks early so I think i would have seen closer to 4 if i didn't take it early. I'm expecting about another 11/12oz from whats left. My goal was a pound. I still have work to do to achieve it. Once I hit that my next goal is 1/gpw.

Lots of variables strain is a big one, but training style and each plants response makes a difference as well

I ran one 315lec, the statins were 3 critical widow, 1 cheese and 1 cali-o. As I stated I lost one Cali-o to hermies so if I did not chop the Cali-o early and did not lose one I would have easily gotten a pound if I had the 6th plant.
My cali-o plants were over five feet tall and had donkey dicks but the one was chopped at 8 weeks. It is still one of my favorite smokes though she is a little bit of a pain in the ass strain. she would have gone 11 weeks easy and would have been huge. Next time in the spring.

Update: Two weeks after flip. Height basically doubled.

Trimmed most lower fan leaves and shaded tips off a couple days ago. Not sure if I should keep the upper side shoots (last pic) or leave em. Unless I hear recommendations otherwise, I'll probably leave them on.

Excited as I near the end of my first grow attempt ;)

Switched over to 12/12 tonight, let the final countdown begin!

Question: When mainlining, do you go right into 12/12 from either 18/6 or 24/0, or do you gradually extend your dark cycle till you're at 12/12?

I have been jumping right to 12/12 myself, I've researched and most people say it doesn't hurt to go right to 12/12, thoughts?

I've read a lot, and can't remember seeing mention of easing into the flowering light schedule. I had the same thought myself but dismissed it since it would have been apparent if commonly practiced.
