The Nug Machine... Round 3

OK folks, its almost time to get started on a 3rd run.
I am SO excited for this run.
I have made quite a few changes this time and if all my past problems from runs 1 & 2 have been solved, I anticipate a bumper crop !
Those new on board will want to check out runs 1 & 2 with most of the machine construct on the first thread.

OK... so, some changes..
DEEP water culture for the roots and a shallow res with auto fill water valve (no more carrying water...) YIPPEE !!!
Larger pump and drain lines for faster circulation.
The A/C system has been tweaked to better cool the soup on it's way to cooling the grow area.
Constant cabinet temps will be dropped a couple degrees.
I installed a 2 channel wireless weather station with the indoor portion in the grow area and the waterproof outdoor sensor/probe is installed in the deep res where the roots will be.
I will be able to remotely monitor the grow room temp and humidity and the temp of the soup simultaneously.

BUT... the biggest change will be... ONLY 2 PLANTS.
I will mainline them again, and if all my previous problems have been addressed and eliminated, I will have 16 main colas with the accompanying side branches, and I REALLY anticipate a harvest around 16 ounces.....

Stay tuned !!!

I have:
1 Amnesia Haze seed
2 Jack Herer seeds
3 AK-47 seeds
5 Gold LeaFuck seeds
1 Alaskan Thunderfuck seed

The Amnesia Haze is incredible smoke and I am glad I bought a second batch, turned out way better than the first run, def need to get some more of them.
The Jack Herer that died early of root rot still gave me some really tasty and potent nugs, but I wonder what could have been.
I also bought some AK-47 to see if I could better the first run.
Then there is the special strain by ILGM called Gold leaF*** that also boasts 21% THC.

SO... only 2 plants this run.....

I have decided to run 1 plant Jack Herer to finally experience the mature nugs I missed out on last run.
This strain is 20% - 80% Sativa dominant
And... the next contestant is.....GOLD LEAFUCK... come on down.
This strain is 40% - 60% Indica dominant.

BEST of both worlds?
We'll see !

OK
Here you Can see the new deep tub for the roots.
I cut through the existing shallow tub that held the roots last time and supported it with 2 steel rods 3/8" inserted in the existing holes that once supported the freezer shelf.
It sits at the exact same height as the shallow tub so when I put the lid on, it seals over both tubs at the same time..... Perfect!

Notice the A/C ducting coming into the right side of the shallow tub.
Cold air has to travel around the deep tub to the exit hole on the other side on it's way to cool the grow area.20150726_135447.jpg

I increased the size of the feed and drain lines from 1/2" to 3/4" for a faster recirculation.

Here is probably my favorite mod... the float valve for the automatic add backs to the res.
I still have to dig up the yard and run a water line to the corner of the shed for a hose bib.
Then I will tap a 1/4" line off of that and run it to the valve.
Gonna be so sweet to NOT have to haul 10 gallons of water every weekend.20150726_135546.jpg20150726_135553.jpg

And, there is the other A/C inlet that really cools the freezer area.
Now both the root tub that hangs down into the freezer and the res are cooled very well.
I will also knock the thermostat down a couple degrees to about 76 - 78 ?20150726_135607.jpg

Bought a new lid for the old shallow tub and cut only 2 holes in it.
Wrapped the top portion of the net pots to prevent any light seeping into the root area.
Ant the foil caps are re-used from last run to totally cover the GrowStones.
All this makes it very dark in the freezer area.

I have already filled and run the system.
Last run held 10 - 11 gallons.
This new system will operate and STAY at 10 gallons with the auto add backs.
Once a week, I will add a hose to the drain that goes back to the res and drain all nutes to external buckets and the refill valve will slowly but surely refill to the proper levels.
I'll probably mix my nutes in a 5 gal bucket and add that in first then let it refill.
Not sure I have that all figured out just yet.
Don't want to shock the plants with super strength nutes till all the water is added back.....

I gave the A/C system another shakedown today and all is great.
Temp set to 77F

AeroGarden brought into the house for a double check on the lamps and the little pump in it.
Don't use the pump much after the taproot hits the soup. then it's bubbleponics.

Yea, I'm gonna try and pop just 2 seeds, I have had great success with ILGM.
Hope this time will be the same, don't want the seeds too far apart on sprouting.
I have to wait till I return from vay cay on the 23rd to germinate.
