 More and more of us are changing our rez's to water coolers.

Whether it's an Igloo, Coleman or some other brand. It doesn't matter.

Post your pics and share your knowledge !

The girls have been in their coolers for about 4 days now and love it. Water temps are a non issue. 1 16oz frozen water bottle lasts all day. Girls seems to be loving it & the roots are exploding in growth. This is my first grow in the water coolers I've used buckets on numerous grows years ago.

Two 4" bubble stones in each cooler

Air lines drilled & sealed with duct tape

250 MH 14" away from plants temps range in the 3x3x6 tent at 85-86 degrees water temp around 70 degrees. Room temperature outside of Tent 72 degrees

Awesome thread! Please post where you got your cooler, size, cost, and what lids you found that fit it.

I have two 5 GA Team water jugs found at Home Depot / Lowes / Walmart etc I paid ~ $35 for them. I am using 5GA 5" bucket lids as the tops they sit flush on top of the jug but do not snap close. I've seen some that have made a basket out of the top the water jug / cooler comes with but mine were already started and could not transplant into a new net pot. Next go around I'll use the lid it comes with

I have square buckets, what I did was wraped them in some insulation thats used for ducting, its 2 1/2" thick and 12" wide foget how long it is but it helped keep my temp in line on those hot summer days we had this year.just finishing up a rdwc system that I have been tweeking for the past few weeks and just about got all the bugs worked out.got clones ready to go and some beans on the way.Im going to be busy for the next few months

Although I started this thread, I didn't have time to post my set up.

Using 2 - 12gal Igloo Marine coolers w/ drain plug and are 24"L x 15"W x 12"H approx.. ($24/ea)
Lids are 2" thick insulated styrofoam from Lowes with 5" holes, covered top and bottom w/ aluminum foil tape.($24 & $14)
Using 2 - 4 port air pumps (5w & 140GPH) with 4 - 14" air bars in one and 4 - 4" large, pillar-shaped air stones in the other. ($25/ea ; $3.50/ea and $2.50/ea)
Also use one 1/2gal frozen water bottle in each, at lights on. Keeps temps 62F - 64F. ($2/ea bottle)
Total = $164
Light is 430w Hortilux in Sun System Yield Master II 6 inch Hood
Passive intake in Homebox Large tent with 6 inch CanFan (276cfm) for extraction, sitting outside and on top of my tent.
Hood IS NOT air cooled AND glass is removed. Small fan inside tent blowing on light at all times.
No bends in ducting from CanFan. Straight vent of 3ft, up into attic.
Ambient temps = 84F Summer and 80F Winter (Inside of tent which is in a closet with no vents/windows).

BH, make it easier on you and those roots.
I bought some fishing weights from Wal Fart.
Egg shaped and 8oz each. Two per 1/2 gal bottle.
Keeps the bottle on the bottom where I sit it.
Makes for quick and easy changes for me, plus the roots stay away from that corner pocket it sits in.
I got tired of it bumping around in there after a day or 2, in the beginning.

You talking about the water bottles??? I just let them sit in the PH water until the temp gets down. Then I add nutes ..To be honest I havent had to re cool the water in the reservoir these coolers keep it at a perfect 20 C..

I use the lids that came with the coolers I cut a hole for the net pot in them ( seriously doubt I will ever use them unless i one day manage some little league teams ) The tops create a air tight seal which probably helps the insulation!

Yeah I don't use the insulated lids so I add 1 20oz frozen water bottle every morning per cooler. This keeps temps nice & cool. Would be 10x better with insulated just helps that much more like BH has. I usually cool my nutrients before placing ladies in them so doing that I have some larger water bottles frozen to help speed the cool down process... I let my water sit out in buckets before placing them into the insulated jugs so a slight cool down is needed

Well...I decided to become part of the cooler club. Today I bought those 5 gallon team coolers, and got everything setup. Each cooler has it's own thermometer. It has allowed me to use less frozen water bottles, and I can go longer between each change of bottles, but I think I will have to add a second bottle each day. I think the reason I heat up a little more is that my air pump puts out some heat. Its one of those metal ones. I have a fan on it, but it still gets warm.

I am experiencing one real problem though. When I moved everything to the new coolers, I simply transferred the solution to the new coolers. It was already PH balanced, and is only about two or three days old. I took a PH reading before I moved the solution, it read 6. Then after moving the solution, the PH went up to about 7. I put some PH down in, but the PH keeps going back up to around 6.5 - 7.0. Anyone have any ideas? The coolers are Igloo brand.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB !!

Did you wash them out real good with a mild soap ?
Have to rinse them real good too, no matter what you use.
Also, what are your water/solution temps ?
They are literally 1 gal coolers ?!
Post pics.

OK...I'll post pics tonight. You read my post before I corrected my typo. They are 5 gallons. I was in a rush, so I did not even think to wash them. Sucks, these plants just started making their way back from that other issue you helped me with. I even noticed new white root growth today.

Almost forgot....temps have gotten as high as 70 F. That is when I put the water bottles in. I don't yet know what temp they will settle at if I don't use ice.
