Is there a way to extract cannabinoid rich oil without bubbling it out with butane? This would be used for medical purposes, so it needs to be high quality with no left over bi-products... The butane method just sounds so darn dangerous:-? Quick and high quality responses will be valued:hump:

Thanks much,:joint:

i have a hash oil make that uses butane as the source its just a pvc tube about 10'' long with 2 caps on the end. on one end the cap is drilled out like a shower head, and on the other the cap has just one hole, to fit the butane nozzle. pak that thing full of goddies and run some butane; keep in mind to keep it vertical. have a bowl to catch your oil in

Ever considered making cannabutter? You need a good amount of weed, but baking with cannabis = shitloads of fun.

Naw, it needs to be oil and cooking with cannabis is hard to predict. It's less for getting high and more for medicine... I don't want to make oil with butane, I am asking how NOT to make it that way. Anyone know any alternative methods?

Nitrogen?? I would be absolutely astonished if that worked (though very pleased too). Do you mean nitrogen gas? Liquid nitrogen? I don't think either one would dissolve the THC.

Hmm, interesting. Does the butane method work because of the cold? I know that that's how bubble hash and various ice methods work - freeezing the trichs and knocking them off. But I always assumed the butane method worked more along the lines of the isopropyl alcohol method - dissolve the THC in something which then evaporates quickly leaving the THC residue behind.

If butane is the cold method, I'd be very curious to try the liquid nitrogen method - I've got easy access to it through a university and it's cheap as dirt!

Shredder, you probably already know this, but a lot of people make isopropyl alcohol hash. Shred the bud into tiny pieces, mix it up in alcohol which will dissolve the THC. Then filter the alcohol through a coffee filter or something and let the liquid slowly evaporate next to a radiator or a hot lamp and a fan or something. If you don't like the idea of using Isopropyl alcohol you could certainly use ethanol (liquor) as long as it's like 90-95% alcohol, but that's more expensive and I believe that once the isopropyl evaporates it doesn't leave any bad stuff behind anyway.

ya the only other way to make oil wihtout using hash is using isopropyl alcohol. theres another name for it but i forgot what it was. the system to make it is different tho. and i just made some with butane. no worries man itll come out fine and pure. and if you want to be extra careful you have zero bi products just put another filter on top of what is already there. i used 2 coffee filters and 6 pipe screeens and the hash oil came out realllly see through and nothing but pure hash oil.

The butane method is safe and easy if you can follow directions. Don't do it around any source of ignition (That's a flame dummy). it boils off rapidly leaving nothing behind but hash oil. Make sure you get the triple purified butane so there is no taste left behind.

Are you trying to process leaf material is that why you think you need butane? You can just process in the standard ice/water method for making hash and collect the trichomes. There's no need to melt the trichomes with a solvent they aren't inside the leaf they're on the outside of it, that's why the ice/water works.

You'll need a screen material.

Just look on youtube, there are many video's about making hash this and other ways.

You could then melt the collected trichomes if there were some reason it had to be in an oil form which I can't think of.
