Thoughts on trichomes

Hi all, wonder if anyone could give the opinions on the stage trichomes are at on one of my plants.

I cut off small sugar leaf and placed under digital microscope. It was quite difficult to get a picture with a lot of trichomes in view at one time.

It was weird because on some sections of leaf it looked like 50% or so of trich heads were amber whilst on other parts nearly all seemed clear.

Any thoughts much appreciated. Pics after 49 days flowering . The strain is called incredible bulk

still clear, not even beginning to ripen yet.most of the heads will turn milky white. since they're always being produced, you'll always have a few clear ones, but you want the vast majority to be milky. a few clears gives a racier high, more in your head, not as long lasting. nearly all milky is the peak of ripeness, a good combination of head and body, long lasting. when you start to see more than a few ambers, you're going past peak, and most people will feel a narcotic high, the fabled "couch lock"

this is just a rule of thumb, different strains mature differently, and effect people differently

Thanks for the replies guys. great information! I thought still had a way to go, was just a bit thrown that quite a few appeared amber already.
Also I didn't realise leaf trichs mature faster than those on the bud. I'll try to see if I can hold microscope steady and monitor buds instead.

yeah, leaf trichs are essentially "sunscreen" for the plant, they grow in response to uv light hitting the plant, so they start getting damaged as soon as they're formed.also, aren't packed as closely together as bud trichs, so they age a lot faster

I like your picture, it made my mouth water. Clear is early, amber late, milky white just right. All the buds mature at different rates, like the top cola will mature first.

I've grown this strain for 3 years, I agree with the person that said to look at the buds only, to determine ripeness.

you've got quite a way to go, guessing a couple more weeks from that picture, mine usually come in right around 60 days.

I think you're going to like the finished product ..enjoy!

Edit: I wanted to add that this strain will turn amber fairly quick, so you want to check those trichomes pretty regular towards the end
