Tips for Dyna Grow Foliage Pro in soil

I used a lot of ph down in my first grow. My tap is around 8 to 8.5 (70ppm) and after adding my Jack's, I was usually still around 7.5.

For this grow, using foliage pro, I haven't been using any ph down. As long as I keep the silica to a very small amount(or leave it out), after adding the FP, I'm usually in the mid to upper 6's.
I bought the MagPro instead of using Epsom because I figured a little more P to go with the 9-3-6 FP would balance out nicely.

I've been feeding with every watering, around 500 to 600ppm total. But since moving into the 5 gallon pots, I've only needed to water every 3 or 4 days.

I was a little concerned about my tap water, because even though it's only 70ppm, it's high in Sodium. About 30ppm I think. So I tried doing one watering with all distilled water, but after adding FP and MagPro, my ph was really low. I ended up using silica to get it up over 6. So I'm thinking of doing a mix of distilled or RO water and tap. Maybe 1 gallon RO and 2 gallons tap. Or vice versa. Hopefully drop the amount of sodium and still end up with a good ph without any ph up or down.

I've always been in the 6- 6.5 range and have been just fine...once you figure your ratios and use Foliage Pro to balance out the protekt down to the pH you need , it kinda eliminates the need for up or down...but when you start adding in supps is when it get tricky and pH up or down might be needed

That's the beauty of DG, you shouldn't need to supplement anything except maybe mg. Even the protekt is not essential, but the plant does benefit some from it, and it's a good pH buffer. Anything beyond that, though it may benefit the plant some, will be a waste of money as the benefits are negligible. In coco, the only things I'd say a person needs to grow good weed are DG grow or foliage pro, protekt or pH up (which also contains potassium silicate), Epsom salt (in case of mg def), and a good myco supplement to use OCCASIONALLY (it's a waste to add it every watering) such as water soluble myco grow from www.fungi.com (they sell really good, quality products). Aside from that you may get into brewing teas, but I classify that under myco supplements.

You make a lot of assumptions.

And aren't you the guy who said that advice from RIU members shouldn't be trusted?

so far I have been liking GROW more than Foliage-Pro...anyone else?? I did see some tip burn and curl under after a 1.0EC watering FP +protekt +dynazyme..I've ran GROW + protect +dynazyme at 1.0-1.3 EC in Veg with no tip burn and curl under..

Using less N should fix the tip burn. Sounds like foliage pro is more economical.
Hopefully you aren't overwatering...

It's been awhile, so I thought I'd post an update.
My plants are a few weeks into 12/12 and they are looking great.

When I started this grow, my plan was to just use FP and ProTekt all the way through. The one issue I had was Mag def. It wasn't as bad as my last grow with Jack's Classic, but it did raise it's head, so I added Mag Pro. Since then, no signs of def or nute burn. I was worried I might have Cal def too, but no signs of that, so it looks like the only thing the FP was lacking (for my particular soil/water/strains) was Mag. MagPro also adds P and K, so it's possible I would have had defs there with just FP, but no way to know for sure.

For the past month, I've been feeding with every watering (about every 3 days).
1/2 RO water and 1/2 tap water for a starting ppm of around 35 and starting ph around 7.5
1 Tsp per gallon of Foliage Pro
1/2 tsp per gallon of Mag Pro
1/4 tsp per gallon of ProTekt

Depending on how accurately I measure, this puts me around 600ppm and 6.4 ph.

I tried using all RO water, but I had to use a lot of ProTekt to get the ph over 6.
If I use all tap water, I have to leave the ProTekt out or the ph goes too high.
But 50/50 makes everything come out right where I want it with the amounts above.

With this new batch, I had been doing just Protekt and Foliage Pro since they were babies (from clones). I'm 99% sure the yellowing between the veins was Mag def because the symptoms matched everything I've read online about it. I just wasn't sure if there was a Calcium problem as well. But I read that Ca def shows up on the youngest leaves and my issues were all on the older leaves. Since some of the Dyna Gro feeding charts call for supplementing with MagPro, I figure it's reasonable that while FP does has everything, it might not have enough Mg for some strains in some parts of their life. Since starting to add the MagPro, it's been pretty remarkable to watch the yellow areas greening up each day from leaf base to leaf tip.
i've been using it for awhile too as just my veg nute. haven't had any Mg issues except for the 2 ladies I'm doing right now. been using epsom to fix it. guess i was due to see some deficiencies

when i put FP in my nute calc, at 2mL/gal, it only has like 3ppm Mg. which explains the deficiencies i reckon.
They want you to use mag pro because its thier version of a bloom booster look at the npk most cal mags are no more then 2.0.0 thiers is up thier becareful to much and lockout is coming

I like using GROW more than foliage pro...ive run FP with protekt and just wasnt too happy with the way my plants grew, lots of new leafy growth but just meh...I like Grow + protekt fits perfectly with my strains...ive used grow + protekt + mag-pro during Veg with no burns or nitrogen curl under...ive never run FP with Mag-pro, seems like nitrogen overload, but all dyna gro products are compatible with each other in the right ratios and amounts

Hey bro...yes RUNOFF is key when using dyna gro to prevent salt buildup in your promix/media/medium...also 2:1 ratio of grow:protekt leaves me at 6.0~6.2 pH range, which is perfect for promix...so if I used 1ml protekt in 1 gallon of water, I would add 2ml Grow...also DONT use any mycorhizzae powder because all the phosphorus is already available in dyna gro...I made this mistake before and wasted mycorhzzae and messed up my root zone...32 Oz of liquid for every 1 gallon of pot size...so id run 32 oz through my 1 gals once they're established...the first transplant and few waterings go 8-16oz of liquid...any more questions just ask bro

Sounds good I'm still in seeedling mode at the moment how old do you normally wait until adding protek. Ive heard of people doing really great with dyna grow and it really seems to be cost effective

Dyna gro is great man...make sure you buy your bottles directly from them so you get the freshest bottles..yes seedlings I just used filtered tap water until they pop...on fresh cuts/clones ..I use per gallon of water 1 ml protekt, 2ml Bloom, and 5ml KLN

Damn i just ordered from ebay better cancel
Hahaha...personally I have had issues with their bottles crystallizing, like theres chunks in the liquid...this is from bottlee staying on the shelves too long, or they get heat damaged on the way out here to hawaii on the shipping container..you should be fine though
