Tips for my first SOG in a tiny 2x2. New grower!

At the moment I'm flowering 2 plants in a scrog but my current plan is to switch to a SOG perpetual grow. I love the idea of constantly harvesting, even if not a lot at once.

I'd appreciate advice because I'm only working with 2x2' and I'd love to fit as many plants as possible and get the most back (obviously). I'm thinking this can be done in 1 gallon pots if I switch to flower after 12" and train them to look like the image attached.

Here is what I'm working with: Mars Hydro 300 Watt (135 actual) and a LED COB 200 Watt (95 actual). I have eight (1) gallon smart pots just chilling in my closet but I'm also down to make my own so I can design them to be taller (I could just cut up some old skinny jeans and sew them up). Or I could use 1/2 gallon pots and squeeze say 12-14 in there. I'm down for all the upkeep.

Thanks.

Zach,

You are better off growing fewer plants bigger than a ton of small baby plants. I'd do 1-2 and top, LST, top again, SCROG and flower when they are like 6 inches all trained out... Here is a pic of my plants, 4 girls in a 2x4x5... They have been LST'ed, fim'ed, scrogged and woven into the net for the past 2 weeks. They sprouted on 5/19.... here they are tonight after cleaning the bottom leaves out. Point being they grow like crazy... I'm running out of space in a 5ft tent. With your pots taking up 8-10 inches you maybe SOL. 20170704_224630.jpg

Happy 4th! Your girls look great btw.

Yeah, i thought about that but I honestly hate having to wait so long in between grows. I'd almost rather fit in a variety of small ones just to perpetually be harvesting. Also, i dont plan to let them get as big as yours, i'd be flipping them early.

Have you tried a SoG in your tent before?

Thank Zack, happy 4th to you as well!

I have not tried to SoG in my tent... but at the same time, you have plenty of options if you have just a wee bit more space to grow. I flipped those girls when they were like 10 inches tall... let me see if I have a picture... Keep in mind they are in 5 gal fabric pots. But you can look back and see how much they have grown.

Look up micro grows on this forum... I still believe you'd be better off with a few plants vegged out for a month... those were my 4 girls now check em out... I'm having rut-roh feeling like holy crap I could have a LOT of buds if everything pans out. Still, a long way to go.

here they are on 6/19... right when I flipped em to 12/12... The past 25 days have been absurd as you can see from my first post.

Keep me posted man. Also, how are you mounting that COB? DIY kit? Really want to make the switch soon but these cheapo Viparspectras are proving to be pretty good... no complaints.

Holy cow! Those ladies got HUGE so fast. I see what you mean. Last time i grew my plants only doubled after switching to flower. Yours seem to have tripled!

I'll be honest, most people seem to be doing what you are so you're probably on to something. It just kills me and my girl to have to wait that long. Perpetually growing new strains just sounds more exciting but that doesn't mean it would utilize my grow.

I'm probably going to wait and see how this scrog goes before i decide. Either way i'll need to wait until these are done so I guess I'll hold off.

Let me get some new pics. Think i did a good enough job LST?

I guess it's hard to see but most mu training happened at the top. I just slightly bent all the branches in order to stretch them out threw the canapy

Make one large tray to keep all your coco. plant your clones straight into bloom lighting after rooting.and stack them dense as fuck. Maybe a fist between each.

If you fill your tent with plants then you will harvest more per year than running a scrog.

This is because your harvesting the same amount of flower but with out the veg time. More work though.
More harvest per year.

Depending on the legality of your grow and the state laws its often better to run a scrog for the plant count.

I live in Cali so i'm down for the work if it means I can constantly try new strains and experiment. Have you done this on a micro scale before by any chance?

Do you have an example of what you're referring to. A little confused. You're saying i should plant a ton of clones in like a 24"x24" tray and let them share the soil?

why not..there all females, same strain and your not vegging at all.
I thought maybe the roots would compete for nutrients or some stupid shit. Still a newb and dont know much. If I do a SoG i'll consider this. As of now i'm debating if I should just stick with what I have going (Scrog 2 plants, 3 gallon).

Well if your going perpetual, all in one container in the same medium, what's going to happen when you cut a plant down and have to remove the root and stalk? I suppose you might get away with not disturbing all the roots for the other pants for a time, but at some point there's going to be so many thick roots in there that it will cause problems and removing them when they are intertwined with newer plants roots is going to cause problems.

Just gota think about the whole process.
What about a 100% perlite grow in small pots, drip fed with a drain to waste.
Your going to have to flower small clones and I don't see more than 7-10g a plant with the sort of space you have.

affirmative.
You'd hardly need to move the lights up and down, even if you perpetually cycled in new clones.

How do you like those co2 bags?

Truthfully I can't tell if they are doing anything. My tent isn't sealed, I have fans blowing all over the place.. the bags are supposed to be above the plants but the hanger that came with the bag snapped... It's just kind of in there for shits since I bought it... I can't say it's helping or hurting. Although I will say if I gently squeeze all the air/co2 out of the bag and leave it there, you can watch the whole bag puff back up and fill within 30 seconds so something is going on, not sure if it's beneficial but its happening. I figured for $20 what the hell. Why not.
