To flush or not to flush..? Nutrient burn?

if your into it

the easiest way to go is the 5-11-26 hydroponic special

along with calcium nitrate and Epsom salt and maybe (optional) magnesium nitrate

so with 4 dry powders you might spend a couple hundred and have a life time supply of fertilizer

You've given me all the measurements to all the nutes in pasts pages and I really appreciate you taking the time to write out the exact measurements and explain how to break down into consideration solutions. Now I'm just trying to learn how to determine measurements

youll need to learn to use a nutrient calculator

unless your a smart guy and know how to do the math,, I am not!!!

hydrobuddy will help if you can get it figured out

I use it along with an excel spread sheet that does the math

I prefer the excel spread sheet but its hard to find

I got this version from brien at custom hydro eons ago...not sure if he still has it

but if your going to become his customer he might emeail it to you

im not at all the person to be giving advise on organics cuz im just learning

but everything ive read recently

the ideal goal is to use zero chem fertilizers

at the moment my intention is to go organic and only use chem fertilizers if im forced to make a correction from deficiency

the salt fertilizers reduce micro organisms

micro organisms break down organic matter/soil amendments and turn it into food for your plants

so its a bit counter productive to be adding salt fert reducing the microbes that supply the food organically

again, im not saying I wont ever use any salt fertilizer...if im showing a def and need an answer quick I will use it... but on the next run I will add some more of the organic soil amendment that I was short on from the previous grow ideally eliminating the need for the salt fertilizer I used on the previous grow

if I use the salt fert I try and follow it with something to boost microbes

I've yet to run out of the 3part jungle juice. Once that's done I've saved all of your suggestions and websites you've provided and am definitely going to give it a shot. I'll let you know when I do. How's the organic adventures going? I talked to an 11 year veteran, and says there is no difference in quantity weather organic, or using salts. What's your opinion?

I have 2 runs behind me

the first run I yielded more and higher quality usinf FFOF and pumping tea

the second run was in a different soil and it yielded less but I also had some ph issues and deficiency and didn't pump the tea much

both runs the pot was slightly smoother and slightly higher quality in the soil than in the hydro

but the difference might be slight enough to not be concerned about it either way

the biggest difference ive noticed is in the veg
the soil veg is much slower then the hydro veg

but in soil the difference is made up with longer veg time

ultimately I think the finished yields are about the same, but the soil grows benefit from the longer veg time

could have something to do with root mass differences between soil and hydro

I always double my yield with DWC over soil and lots more when I do DWC ScroG.

Playing in dirt doesn't work for me but that's most likely me and not because dirt farming is inherently less productive but because I inherently suck at dirt farming. I'm a chemist, not a plant biologist. :)

the root powder seems to be working better in the peat starter plugs

it didn't do well in rockwool plugs

the enzyme powder..cant really say
I don't use it often and since being in soil im not sure if I can say its doing anything or everything lol

what do you have going on?

Got the nutrients and reading the girls pretty well. At this point, I'm learning about hormones. Today I just got BAP6, Brassinolide, IBA-K, and triacontanol. Gonna be experimenting with two clones. One for control, the other for the experiment. I've got charts of how and when to use them at what ppm to use them. How's the organic thing going? If you've ever experimented with hormones let me know of any experience
