To trim fan leafs or not to trim fan leafs..... that is the question

Soooooooo I have two girls who are going into 4th week of flowering (12/12) and she’s got lots of flowers and I’m curious to know if trimming fan leaves to give more light to all buds is a good thing or will it stress them to much? This is my first hydro grow in a tent and there are some really good potentials that are being shaded!

I only trim them when they are smothering a developing bud. Then I leave as much of the fan leaf stem behind as possible. The inner branch will use it as support as it develops. Only the fan leaves that grow from the main stem are the problem. But you're looking good you have plenty of air flow and room around the bud sites.

I was looking at ways to open her up a little bit. I went and got some plant wire from the hydro store. I tried just lightly wiring the problem fan leaves away. I didn’t even thing she looked scarce. Now that you say it though I did some comparisons and they are sparce on leaves. They have never been topped or anything I just noticed they were really really branchy. I’m assuming it’s just the strain. One other thing is, the tent sucks in from the exhaust fan. I got the smallest one they had.... and I have it connected through a T to two different tents and they suck in lol. So it cramps them a little more. I heard people grew up 4 plants in a 4x2tent and my brain can’t wrap around it lol. Whhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!?

Tents sucking in means your fans are creating negative pressure. This is a good thing. It keeps smells from leaking out. Nothing to worry about.

As for your question, no i wouldnt defol as there is not much foliage to begin with

Tuck them leaves, if some fan leaves yellow then chop them when they are close to dying, imo the more leaves the better buds even if some bud sites aren’t getting light, at some point you will lose a few anyways! :) don’t chop healthy leaves, been there done it and it was a mistake.

That’s what I ended up doing. I took the bigger fan leaves that were blocking buds and tilted them down and gentley tied them into place with gardening string.

I also had the same problem with the tent collapsing
I fixed it by using alligator clips and hanging dog cage walls on the inside of my tent to hold fans ect..
