I was told I needed to get some tomato cages because when the plants start getting bigger they will start to lean. I am wondering how many of you use tomato cages or how neccesary do you think they are or arent?

Thanks!

agreed ... your friend has probally stretched his into needing them . sometimes during budding you may have to tie a few of em up if your lucky .. but ive never had the need for a cage yet . Hell who knows .. if you was like growing outdoors where you couldnt check them very often ... they may be usefull .. but indoors ive never had a need. On the other hand I could picture spriraling a plant around one as it grows with cfls on the sides ... little lst .... hmmm ...It could look like a bud tornado at harvest time ..................

You don't necessarily have to have a tomato cage but some growers growing large plants use them with great results.

I bet that would be neat as hell ... if you do it make a post .. I'd follow it
no if about it my man lol

im going to do it

ill journal it in grow journals

but im gonna wait and let my current micro scrog/lst grow finish first

and i might do it 12/12 from seed since i dont want it to over grow the cage lol

I am growing indoors. Planning to put the plants into flower when they hit 20in.

I did see a grow on here where they trained the plant around the tomato cage and it was awesome.

In a small room with only a couple of plants it is not needed. They do come in very handy thou with strains that like to stretch and large plants. Larger rooms you can either use cages, netting, staking, or all of the above. Taking as much stress off the plant and allowing the plant to focus on bud and resin production is key.

You can always use a skinny stick, like a bamboo stick to support a heavy branch. You can use twine and tie it around the top of the plant to support all your branches.

Thanks. I have 11 plants and I will be letting them get to about 20in and then put them into flower. I have some Wonder, NL Auto, White Widow, Bubblicious and some bagseed.
