Too much nutes? Or water?

Howdy all,

This is my first grow, and already I've learned much.

Here's my set-up:

HO Fluorescent, 8-54w 4' T5s
12 ladies - 6 in 3 gals, 6 in 1.5 gals (I got the clones in early August)
Soil make-up: about 60% generic potting soil (composed of peat, fine sand, forest litter, and moisture agent) and the rest perlite
Water from tap, use a bit of aquarium dechlor and then let sit for two days.

To begin with, I royally messed up when I started out (1st week August), choosing (mindlessly) garden soil for containers. Discovering my mistake, I got some potting soil and replanted about three weeks ago.

Everything was looking good up till this weekend. I returned from a boat race last night and about 6 of my girls were showing some yellowing on the tips of a few top leaves, with a few smaller bottom leaves completely yellow . . . also, some of those top leaves are twisting.

I think this is one of two things:

1. Too much nutes. I used 1/3 strength Fox Farms Grow Big three waterings ago (about two weeks). Then, did the same thing at 2/3 strength two waterings ago (about ten days ago).

2. Watering. Last Thursday, before I left for the race, I gave them plain ol' water, since some of the tips of the top leaves were yellow/light brown. I gave the 3 gal pots about 32 oz. of water and the 1/2 gal pots about 16. I think I may have overwatered, since the girls don't look as vibrant as they did before I left.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
