Topping the buds themselves for bigger buds

Has anyone here tried topping 1/8" of top of each bud site on each node on 3rd week of flower to create huge fat buds? What were the results? Is it worth it? Below is a link to a You Tube video of someone doing it.

That first link shows a guy ripping the top off some underdeveloped bud colas with absolutely no video with a follow up to the "multi-bud tops" that it 'supposedly' regrew and is 100% bullshit.

I feel like this is one of those things where we ‘see what we want to see’

Buds get stunted then grow wildly from the cut area but really you would have had as much or more growth by just leaving it. However, if leaving it be the new growth is controlled and ‘normal’

Kinda like fimming. In reality fimming is just stunting the newest growth so that the 2nd newest nodes catch up and grow at same height/rate of the newest node.

Sorry if didnt explain it very well but yeah

" Back Building " buds really does nothing more than create more compact buds for BAG APPEAL . I admit I tried It ...... Once .

Just made my buds shape out to pine cones but really didn't make them any more different... I snipped about an 1/8" at terminal point and that's it. Since I grow for my own MEDS ... Bag appeal has NO value to me.

any of you saying no ever really try it lol? i made a similar post a couple years ago on here about topping your buds. ive tried it, i used to have pics of buds i topped on a plant compared to ones i did not, the ones i did were fatter, little more dense, and weighed more than the ones i didnt top. maybe it was the strain i used idk but it worked i didnt take that much off though i literally pinched the tip off about week 3.

I've tried it a few times and all I've got is rounder buds that would feed into automated bud trimmers better and have nicer bag appeal as @Budzbuddha stated above. Like him I'm only in it for the meds so couldn't care less about appearance. None of the snipped buds weighed any more than the ones left alone but they didn't weigh any less either.

If you're running a business selling pot then it might be worth doing.

:peace:

From my limited experience with a test it seemed like topping a single bud seemed to cause the calyxes (calixi?) directly under the cut to plump up and grow more pronounced, but maybe it's just the effect of being so visible. Please forgive the horrible sin of having a photo with the LEDs on, this is a photo I dug out of my personal records from a few yrs ago.topped.png

The buds normally plump up the last 3 weeks or so as the calyxes swell and new ones grow. My clipping experiences just kept the tops of the buds from becoming pointy.

You got some fox-tailing going on there which is usually a sign of heat stress tho some strains seem to do that as a matter of course.

You are forgiven your sins my son. Go in :peace: labrat.gif :D
