I got my far red puck in the mail yesterday and had a pleasure setting it up. All of the barrel connectors I had didn't fit the 12v adapter and on the last try I ended up snapping the 12v adapter off. I stripped the wires and tested them on the board, everything lit up so at least I knew I didn't rip the soldering pads off. I ended up having to solder the wires on to the board which was easier than expected (I haven't soldered anything in almost a decade). Once everything was soldered and tested to make sure it worked I attached the board to an extra heatsink I had around. I know it says it doesn't need one but i figured I may as well use it. I'll take some update pics today and post them in a little bit.

Whow, nice setup and nice lookin gals ... and their color.... looks almost black in the center.

If they are only half as good as they look ..

Are these Noctua fans in the background? 140mm or more? Do they generate enough airflow and at which voltage are they runnin'?

Keep up the good work..

Thanks man, I really appreciate your kind words. As to the fans Yes and No. A couple post back you can see that I was using two Noctua 120mm fans for circulation. They worked great. I can't recommend a better PC fan then a Noctua.

Now I'm using 1x 120mm Noctua and 1x 140mm Fractal Design fan because I messed up and shit went pear shaped.

I got impatient trying to set up a quick DIY Far Red setup instead of buying the FR puck from Rapidled in the first place, and ended up killing the fans. I wanted to see if I could use a 12v 1A phone charger to power the two FR 20mm stars I already had, but I needed some extra voltage to fill the charger so i added the fans. I really didn't think that one through and was a little too eager to try and get that project going. There was a saying I heard all time when i was in the Marines when someone fucked up like this, we would say you're "young, dumb, and full of cum."

Everything lit up right away and then shut off. I unwired everything and tested just the fans using two different 12v chargers to see if I blew the charger. Both chargers would only make the fans tick like they were trying to start up but didn't have enough power. Luckily, I ordered three of the 120mm Noctua fans for a past project and ended up not needing them so i still had one left.

Both are currently running off one 12v 1A charger in parallel so they're getting 500ma each.

These also aren't the only fans in the tent. I have two metal caged fans like these above the lights blowing across and downwards to help get some "warm" air off the heatsinks and down to the plants. I learned a long time ago to live dangerously and take the front grille off of these fans as that will greatly increase both the airflow and blood loss you experience.

But, for this little 2x2ft tent, the Noctua fans do a great job moving the air around. The only trick is you have to have them some distance from the tent or your airflow will be subpar. The frame the fans hang from is 22x22inches so they were pretty close to the tent wall and not a lot of air was flowing. I had some longer machine screws handy that i used for a past project and what ended up working for me was to screw them into the fans to 'push' them off of the tent wall.

Right now the fans are just above the plants moving air around. I moved recently from the East Coast of the USA aka "The Humid Coast" out to Colorado and with the elevation and low humidity here I'm not worried about any mold or mildew. If I was back east or in an area with high humidity I would lower the fans and have them blowing through the plants.

Whow, the Fractal fan is a beast. 200cbm at 1200rpm is a lot of airflow.

I want to build me something new with stripes and my 16 x16x 4" oszillating boxed fan is just too big. Maybe I'll hang him under the blanket, like you, and make him blow down thru the strips.
2 of these Fractal fans do not even cast a quarter of the shadow as the boxed fan did and the whole strips based unit is a lot bigger than my current COB unit.
The boxed fan would be permanently in the way and would always hang between canopy and stripes. For this I am looking for a solution. I think I have one now and I'll hang one of these beasts on each side, blowing towards the middle of my 2.5 x 4' tent. Thanks for sharing, mate!

Check out these guys too. I used this as a replacement fan for a Roleandro LED light I bought before I knew any better.

Oh yeah, he's a little bit stronger, but cheaper at the same time. Almost half the cost of the Noctua's. Did not know that there are now so many of them (+ 200mm fans I mean), built my last PC as the i2500k came out.
How time goes by..?!
Have a NF-F12 as a replacement fan on my 120mm radiator (Mastercooler, all-in-one water cooler). Much better as the stock fan... If only they were not that pricey.

I hear you on the price of the Noctuas. My original setup in NY was three CXB's on an 18" 5.88 HeatsinkUSA heatsink, (I built two). I had the fractal design on one and this Noctua on the other. These were framed together and the driver sat in the middle.

The Noctua hands down beat out the Fractal in terms of cooling power. I could feel the difference in the amount of air being pushed through the heatsink channels. If you were at eye level with the frame on the Noctua side it felt like someone was blowing air in your eyes, where as the fractal felt like a very gentle breeze.

Chop Day. After wet trimming the bulk off, it's hanging at 392g wet.

I'm pretty happy with these results. The nuggets are dense and sticky. Sprout to flower was 30 days and flowered for 69 days. This was my first run using LEDs and this strain so learned a thing or two. I'll update with the final dry weight for these girls.

Nice job! Especially for the first time!
Have seen people getting lots of issues with LED's(bleaching, calmag,....), you certainly are not one of them!
Thumbs up!
