OK, I have 2 babies that are about 5 weeks vegging in and i have them in 3 gallon pots. unfortunately the soil is not as much as i figured so I was thinkin about given 'em 1 last transplant, but instead of actually pulling them out of the pots I would just cut the bottom of the pot off and put the whole pot into a bigger medium to reduce shock. would this work? it seems simple really but this is my first grow so i'm still learning. thanks! heres a couple of pics of my ladies...hopefully!:hump:

Hmmm, thats something new u've thought of...
ap and hold the stem firm enough
I think it'll work, but i need a confirmation myself :P

And, if ur plant is pot bound already, u can just give the container a tap and all the soil wud come out, this causes least stress to the roots....

Okay, actually, come to think of it, it wont work just fine cause the roots will not get any room for sideways growth...the roots would grow out the bottom of the small container, which u already have cut.... but then, im not always right.. :|

It all depends on when you plan to induce them into flowering. If it were me, they would've been in the bloom stage a week ago. If you plan on giving them another week or so, I would leave them in that pot. It won't make much of a difference really unless you veg them for another two weeks after the transplant.

I transplanted them a week ago, but I just moved them to 5 gal. containers. They were def. needing a move. They did not seem to get stressed at all and they are looking great. I moved them into some good Foxfarm soil. They are lovin it. I am going to keep them vegging for a couple more weeks. they are only 13-14" tall. Here are some updated pics...They are 6 and 7 weeks from germ.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you. In case you were interested, that method of transplanting is commonly referred to in the cannabis community as BOG (after a user BushyOldGrower).

I learned about this in the Hempy Collective thread. Seems it causes less stress on the roots.... which is always a good thing. Here's a link to a page in the Hempy thread where you can see Lumberjack_Ian applying the technique with a hempy grow.
