Treatment for neuropathic pain

I have really bad atypical cranio facial neuralgias including trigeminal, and am prescribed a handful of drugs including oxycodone. I was just saying to my gf last week after smoking some hash, "damn it's amazing how well that works" since it was comparable to eating a percocet and provided decent relief. Then I saw this article from pubmed:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15578967
Trigeminal neuralgia is a disorder of paroxysmal and severely disabling facial pain and continues to be a real therapeutic challenge to the clinicians. While the exact cause and pathology of this disorder is uncertain, it is thought that trigeminal neuralgia caused by irritation of the trigeminal nerve. This irritation results from damage due to the change in the blood vessels, the presence of a tumor or other lesions that cause the compression of the trigeminal root. The pain of trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by unilateral pain attacks that start abruptly and last for varying periods of time from minutes to hours. The quality of pain is usually sharp, stabbing, lancinating, and burning. The attacks are initiated by mild stimuli such as light touch of the skin, eating, chewing, washing the face, brushing the teeth, and exposure to wind. Although antiepileptic drug therapy may be beneficial in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, up to one-half of the patients become refractory or intolerant to these medications. At present there are few other effective drugs. In cases of lacking effect after pharmacotherapy, surgical options may be considered.

Currently there is growing amount of evidence to suggest that the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis and individual cannabinoids may be effective in alleviating neuropathic pain and hyperalgesia. Evidence suggests that cannabinoids may prove useful in pain modulation by inhibiting neuronal transmission in pain pathways. Considering the pronounced antinociceptive effects produced by cannabinoids, they may be a promising therapeutic approach for the clinical management of trigeminal neuralgia.

You need the Resin heads on the trichomes.. that's what holds the psychoactive property in THC.. You need a good water extract or a very good kief imo... Can be hard to come by, lot of people will push Stalks.. and lot of buds sadly have the resin heads knocked off when buying on the street etc... Do you have your medicinal card?

If you need CBD however, dabbing can be great for that, or clean water extracts.. or eating on some RSO I heard can be good as well..

best of luck man.. sounds painful! oxycodone isn't good i know your pain brotha!!! Lot of people I've given dabs of stuff with high THC content or nice water hash say it feels like they just took some oxyies!!!

I just cut about a lb of wet buds I plan to make water hash then run the scraps through ISO to see if I can get anything extra out of it.

I have a medical card and the dispensary by my house actually has a dozen different water hashes and a dozen great kief's. They even sell bud as cheap as $175/ounce. I usually get 2 grams of kief and 1 gram of bubble hash per week and blend it together. But the real "medicine" seems to be the butter they sell which has 2 full grams of hash per stick for $30, you can see it settled in the bottom of the container and it's more potent than the percocets.

So excited for the buds I just picked, smells exactly like grapefruit.
