Trichomes Farm in a closet

1/27/07 – After 24 hours of seeds in between two wet paper towels…on seedling electric warming mat…covered in Saran wrap….we have some root tips showing. 12 seedling cups were created with a mixture of Wal-mart generic potting soil and Perolite. My guess is that I have 6 seeds with good root tips and 6 that were either just breaking through or were planted just as seeds. Closet has space heater on with doors closed and warming mat under the tray of seedlings. The light is on….the new light has not been installed yet….

1/31/07 – 11 out of 12 seeds have popped up from underground. A couple of containers have two seedlings. Humidity is very low…around 25%...I have added a bowl of water to the closet and keep watering the seedlings. Fan is on for some air movement. Soil gets dry quickly….I am away for an overnight…wonder how the seedlings will do.

2/5/07 – 12 out of 12 germinated. I even have a couple of cups with 2 sprouts in one cup. I have transferred all 12 to larger pots. Mixture of generic potting soil with perlite mixed in. Gravel at the bottom of all pots. Top inch of soil is Miracle Grow added to fill pots.
Surprised by how many pots I was able to place in closet. By getting rid of the foil pans with gravel and replacing them with clear plastic run-off plates I have managed to maximize space.
Closet floor has been redone. One piece of cheap wood to cover as much of the floor as possible. The two (2) rolling dollies have been placed on top of the new floor. Vent holes where left open for future ventilation. This allows me to access the left side of the closet. Now that the doors do not both open…this will allow me to move the plants on the right side and then pull the plants on the left easily to the right and out of the closet when needed.
White plastic was placed on top of the roller dolly. Temp outside is below zero…wind chill is 20 degrees below zero. The closet is maintaining temps at about 70 – 75 degrees.
Humidity has increased, but I think that is with the addition of so much soil.
Plants are about 1.5 weeks old. End of March I should know which are male and which are female. I have got the fertilizer mixed in with the water…sitting at least 24 hours to settle. The little plants were watered with the “root-booster” that worked so well before. I will continue with the “root-booster” for the next 10 days…make sure the roots are healthy and able to soak up nutrients. Then I will go with the “Big Grow” and “Alg-A-Mic”
:peace:
