tubular skylight, solartube

what are oyur thoughts on using a tubular skylight (sloartube) for lighting? it would be natuaral sunlight. it would just be for additional lighting as you can not control how long the sun shines in a day. but if oyu set up other lamps to run at same times as sun, just run lamps longer when needed. has anyone used a tubular skylight?

I think thats a great idea. How much will a couple of the run you?

I have those in my house.
At the peak hours of sunlight they do alright but as soon as the sun is no longer directly overhead they are nothing more then mood lighting.

I am not sure how you would utilize those.

If you have the money then I would go for it. Nothing like extra sunlight. I have some friends that have them in their house and they work great. I imagine it could be a problem though if you switch to 12/12 during a time of year when the sun is out longer than that.
