Turning back to soil?

I started out about a dozen grows ago in soil, then i went to rockwool. Also from giant trees to sog, now to hydroton as cubes are expensive. Well I'm considering turning back. To either cubes or even soil. it seems so much easier to grow in soil! I'm having issues with my roots. I run gh maxI series plus koolbloom. I use other products in veg and cloning. My mom's are healthy. I'm considering even flowering them out. But I'm new to this style of setup and I'm struggling to get giant white fuzzy roots. I dont have rot. Just not vibrant or healthy. So I decided to add hydrogaurd to my resiviors, just bought a gallon and I'm going to filter water and discontinue my chlorine. Hopefully this will help. If not I'm changing it up. Any advice I would really appreciate. I'm really working on my technique here. Taking big healthy cuttings and adding them to the aerocloners where they stay healthy is the key, or so I thought. So hopefully it's the beneficial bacteria. My plants are going in rooted and strating to yellow from bottom up. I contributed it to the root development at first but now I know it's something else. If anyone can give me some input I'd appreciate it. I did well in cubes so what's so different about hydroton. I hate to go back to soil. O ya, my ph is 5.7-6.2 and ppm are low, 600-700. Co2 is usually 1000 or little more.

Veg:

Maxigro
Recharge

Clones:

Bioroot
Calmag plus

Flower:

MaxI bloom
Koolbloom
(Hydrogaurd) be here in few days

These also a lot of extra products I have on hand that I use if needed.

What's your water temp? I've found that things suffer when temps get much above 70 for an extended time. Ideally I keep mine at 65-66 and things are finally rocking for me. Hydroguard also seems to be doing a great job, just wish it was a tad cheaper :).

Upper sixties. I've had a lot of successful grows in cubes, but this is my first in straight hydroton. Also some clones seem to be doing well and others not so much. I think it's a combonation of things. But I'm tired of the stress this is causing me... growings suppose to be fun. I'm just keeping them in veg until they really take...

Was switching to hydroton the only variable that changed?????

I'm in the no medium camp myself (except for starting seed).

Link in my sig.

I'm not sure what's going on but I did notice with mine that once the rot was cleared up things were still kind of fucked up so I started looking and found using the small net pots I had light leaks and also around the lid, fixed that as well. Your right though there is a lot of shit you need to dial in to get good results.
