Uk people using 315 cmh?.

Now rolling with 315w cmh 4200k, alongside 315w cmh 3100k, one 2ft tube T5 (6500k) and 4 leds. This mixed spectrum of blurple leds alongside mixed spectrum cmh is a true pleasure to grow under! 4ft x 4ft tent

1 month left for these 5 auto's. Love growing under cmh! The further the grow goes, the more it amazes me!

I've backed the lights off since adding more light. Reduces the heat stress, but wanted to find the perfect distance. Not like I've got to worry about light coverage lol

Looking good! Have you got a dimmable ballast then? Looks like you've got coverage AND spectrum covered.

So if I bought a bulb im going for the "blue" daylight? Ive seen a kit with a super nova reflector for 235 quid, not sure whether to get the sun systems reflector for an extra 140 quid.. Quoted "24%" increase in performance.

No dimmable ballast. I run separate 315w cmh units.

That 24% claim is utter rubbish when talking about ballasts running those lamps on the same frequency. The omega cmh kit are run on a different frequency to maxibright, apparently not getting the best out of the lamps.

I'd still get the maxibright kits. Much better value. The reflectors don't up take up much space either. It gives off slightly more heat than a 250w hps, why bother going vertical with it? The supernova reflector has really good light spread!

Also got a dr90 with 1 315w cmh. This is running the elite agro lamp. 3100k. Running 2 brother grimm C'99 clones and 2 high cbd plants for percy.

Very good lamp, but still I prefer the daylight lamp. These plants are different ages. But you get the picture I'm sure! Cmh produces very happy plants (:

Even this flowering lamp makes the plants very happy indeed :weed:

That's all I wanted to hear! Gonna order that kit now.

The lamps I like to grow under the most are as follows:

1. 315w cmh 4200k daylight lamp
2. 6500k sunmaster metal halide.
3. 4500k white metal halide (400w) Philips Master
4. 315w cmh 3100k daylight lamp.

Im planning to use a CMH and DIY cob build myself. Should be a good combo. Vertical scrogs too

I'm a massive fan of cmh and led together. I have completed other grows using the 2 together and they are great together! Reason why it works just so well, the cmh daylight spectrum is so wide, especially the daylight version. It's lacking slightly in the red, but it can still grow over 1 gram per watt, as the plants stay so healthy, it's unreal!

I tried half a grow (flowering auto's) giving the cmh random light alongside it.

I ran the 4200k daylight lamp with a 2050k osram son t plus hps.

Next tent over, I ran the 3100k elite agro lamp alongside the 6500k sunmaster lamp.

I didn't really learn much tbh. I would just look in the tents and stare at the plants. Both tents loved it! But then they both love the cmh anyway.

I'd love to roll with cob + cmh + will do in time. I'm not the diy type. 3 of these blurple leds were real cheap. One was £20. Prakasa £50. Smart led £60. Just bought them for the meantime.

In the UK there are some good options. I'm waiting to see what grown northern led are rolling out next. Budmaster has cobs too. Not convinced by their lenses though! I have heard they may be changing them, then I'll buy Budmaster again. Plantphotonics in Spain have some pretty good looking cobs, fairly new out.

I get put off ordering from the USA. Imagine if it broke and you had to send it back. It would cost a fuck load, so that ain't an option.

Not much competition over here in the UK, so prices are silly with all pre built options.

Take a look at this page. It has a graph on with the spectrums of the daylight lamp and the agro. Notice the daylight lamps has some real deep, deep, deep red! Overall the 3100k lamp is just lacking imo, yeah it's all singing and dancing at 660nm and peaks at yellow, but look where the daylight lamp peaks! The agro lamp is like a specialised lamp. The daylight lamp is the Freddie Flintoff of lamps! It can bowl, it can bat, it can can run, it can jump, it can do the lot! A real allrounder!

The spectrum mixing them is obviously very good, but whether it's better than 2 daylight lamps together... I'm not so sure!

Access to decent Heatsinks in UK sucks too.
Those Citizen 1212s Cobs on eBay are a great deal - cheap as chips!
The CMHs look good.
Just wait till your cheapo led fixtures start to fail and replace with Cobs.

It wouldn't be hard for someone to do a large order of Chinese heat sinks and sell them on eBay. Might do it myself actually. I wonder if more people in the UK are gonna experiment with them, ive spoken to a lot of closed minds about trying them out. Mainly due to cost and the "HPS and MH do the job fine" mentality.

Its the cost but now it's getting cheaper.
Showed a few mates and talked to grow shop.
Only thing they'd heard of were Budmasters!
One of them just got a press and took most of my cob grown bud and was so impressed he's pre- ordered my next batch.
Showed a mate the Quantum boards and the cobs and he couldn't believe how cool they run.
I got some thin heatsink off ebay uk and stuck 3 citizen 1212s on one piece.
A 120mm fan.
Fan driver.
630ma Driver salvaged from crappystar led.
Kapton tape.
22 watts per 1212, 66 watts Total.
I previously used a single cxb 3590 at 50 watts but the new light is better as it's more spread out.
Total 80 quid! Not too bad and it'll last a lifetime.
I tested temps on heatsink right behind the 1212s - 25oC , that's cool.

@Moflow Maybe cobs are not taking off in the UK as fast as they are in the USA, for this reason. In the UK it's cold. Our summers ain't all singing and dancing either, but easy for us growers with cool temps. I've been to Florida twice, it's really hot and humid there and I imagine growing there is a real challenge, compared to where I am. Much more difficult for you to control temps and rh. Very few UK growers use air con, we just open windows and get cool air from there!

Yes a 315w cmh is better than a 400w mh. Plus it's much cooler, like almost the same as a 250w mh. I have two dr120's with two 315w cmh in each, 1 agro and 1 daylight in each, separate reflectors. I use maxibright ballasts and the philips lamps. What flicker? :D

I love using cmh lights for my growing bongsmilie

You haven't had an issue with the weight? I wrote secret Jardin asking if I could do this same thing along with a carbon filter and they advised it was too much weight. That each pole was only rated to 15 kg each.

How have you found cooling that space? What cfms inline do you use? I'm debating the exact same set up

Anyone here used the lumii or lumatek de 630w? Wondering if they’re a feasible alternative to dimlux.
Quite abit cheaper they are
