The more dirty it is, the longer and more you will have to clean it. But I just use rubbing alcohol with salt. Costs like 4$.

Rez blocker stops resin from sticking where the water touches. That helps a lot. Other than that just clean it everynight or every Sunday.

only thing with alcohol and salt is after awhile it leaves some sorta like white calcium build up on your pieces that is nearly impossible to clean out

I use sea salt and 99% ISO. The sea salt doesn't leave the residue that ranchos429 mentioned and it's also more abrasive. Just the cheapest sea salt you can find, we're cleaning a bong here, not making a fresh flatbread.

Don't waste your money on all of these "made for bongs, pipes, whatever" glass cleaners.

I give to you the one, the only:

Only $11 per gallon at your local Home Depot. Same exact thing as Grunge Off, albeit even a little more concentrated!

Fuck yeh! I used to use a shit like that was mad too dude i used to watch my glassey all of a sudden the resin just falls off. Sparkling clean im a bit of a whore i like to clean every 1-1.5 grams
usually a nights worth i find its more potent and you adjust to a clean taste. And when the pipe gets that little bit dirty i just dont get as ripped!
I actually use Napisan or the equivalent at Aldi 4 bucks for a massive tub boil the kettle measure me stuff then race to the boiling kettle and pop em in at the same time works a treat.
Im no so health concious couldn't be all that bad since you can use it on your clothes you guys seem to get that bloody cheap im in Aus!

Aldi just started making a small presence here in the States, well at least in my city anyways. But holy shit do the (all of two) people who work there have to work their asses off! Never seen anything quite like that before.

Zep has been known to remove labels from glass, so I'd be cautious of getting any on the outside of the glass.

I use alcohol and salt, I've been noticing the white marks lately too and I didn't get them for a while. I also rinse and fill my bong with purified water to cut back on the mineral deposits.

Simple Green is good at getting those deposits away and will eat away resin also. It needs to be shaken and let soak but works great when you see some white marks. And it doesn't remove labels either.

From my experiences it is Simple Green that you have to be careful with. That's the product which can possibly result in the removal of some labeling. Btw, Simple Green takes forever and a day to clean glass compared to Zep. I myself use a GonG stopper usually filling up the tube from the mouthpiece.

Another tip - from time to time you can use a funnel with a coffee filter to remove any fine sediment when pouring back into the container. The solution will turn back to orange from black. This way you can keep one bottle going basically forever.

You all pay too much, I use lighter fluid and Low sodium table salt.

I mix the salt into paste with a little lighter fluid and give it a shake around. Works like magic then I rinse the salt away with hot water and give it a quick wash with fairly washing liquid and it shines like crystal.

ughh I wouldn't put lighter fluid in my bong hehe
Methyl hydrate, methanol, denatured alcohol, call it what you want... with plain table salt does the best job I've seen...1/3 the price of Acetone for 3x the quantity.
3 seconds shake for a black bong and clean as new ;)

If you want it really clean use salt/rice and ISO and then salt/rice and some cooking oil, and then soap and water. The oil will clean up any residue left by the ISO - and there's a bit of residue, just try getting all the stick off your hands after trimming with straight ISO, damn near impossible. And the soap gets rid of the oil residue.

^^ Does that get the "film" left behind from doing an Iso/ salt clean? I always notice (mainly closer to the mouth) that after I clean my bongs and bubblers that there is a milky/clearish film that is left on the glass. Ive just been adding plain Iso after I do my initial rinse to clean it up.

It does. So ISO is great because you can dissolve a lot into it (in re. to amount of soluble material, not type of material). But the problem with ISO is that it'll spread the dissolved material to anywhere it touches and it's miscible with water - so if you had the bottom of your bong full of ISO with dissolved resin and poured it over your hands some of the resin would precipitate out of the solvent and onto your hands leaving a thin coating of stickiness - same thing happens when you pour it out of your bong. And unfortunately as resin is hydrophobic rinsing in water isn't going to get rid of the film.

Now oil is also a solvent of resin - actually amazing for getting rid of sap too, but it doesn't have the ability to absorb as much resin nor as fast. But once you're left with just a thin film the oil is enough to dissolve it. Oil is hydrophobic and not miscible with water so when you rinse it out the oil and the water remain separate which means more of the dissolved resin is washed out. Secondly, unlike the film of resin that cannot easily be removed by soap, oil can. Soap binds to the remaining oil which still carries the remaining resin and is carried it out of your pipe with a good rinse. Getting rid of the layer of sticky film also means your pipe sill stay cleaner longer.

I use T.S.P. an all purpose heavy duty cleaner that i get at the hardware store in the paint section. I dissolve a cup of it in metal bucket full of very hot water and dump in my collection of glass pipes. It's so effective that the colors have vanish on certain cheap glass pipe i have.
