Underground Potential?

So is this on your actual private property?

And it's an awesome low key spot ....but prepare for moisture control to the fullest ....mold will be your biggest issue when you start raising temps underground ....GL
I will be running a dehumidifier and fixing to seal the room with damtite sealant.

Would a dehumidifier be sufficient??

And evergreen , I am making effort in keeping it discreet and low key, because like I said earlier, I am in Kentucky and they are hard as fuck on growing here. You are not allowed to grow medically or recreational. Anything over 5 plants is a felony, anything less is a misdemeanor.

That is probably why it sounds that way.

Don't forget about heat in winter during lights out. Also can split in half and flip flop lights on times and that would help keep both rooms warmer.

But of course maybe increase cooling needs.
I would bet a dollar that room stays at 50 pretty much yr round, its below frost line if he has one,its a root celler meant to store crops all winter without freezing with out heat back in the good old days the folks would store food in winter an in spring fill them with pond ice last all summer

I do have family and rarely visitors, but ya know the electric company or some sort of service stops in, I want it discreet.

For indoor i wouldn't let the nighttime temps below about 63 Fahrenheit.

Below 60 and I have had cold root problems in my 50 degree basement.

ya bleach the whole room strong, dry an seal u toss in 4-5 1ks no heat needed, does the ground freeze there, I deal with 3 ft of frost an 100 in snow each yr,as far as cleaning room I would go with pressure washer lots of bleach

Let's not forget he's not using it as a root cellar in this situation ...adding warmth to damp conditions is a recipe for mold .....a dehui is a must for sure ....not saying it isn't possible ...but that should be your main focus IMO....

i'd get the dehu working and rely on the lights for heat until you figure out whats what, that rooms pretty well insulated already, being buried, so w/e heat you don't vent out will stick around a while

Thats cool man. Maybe you could water while your at it. I would be sure you have a breaker in there maybe run 220v to keep amps down. Could still have 110v at the breaker panel. maybe a layer of sand on the floor could help with humidity and pest. Ventalation could really help if outside climate allows.

Bought lock seal for the concrete last night and masonry waterproof sealer to go beneath it. Also got some concrete sealer. I am gonna make sure it is 100% water proof, I do not see any leaks at all so far even during the heavy rains we have had. Don't see any mold growing on walls like you do in most basements. I am also gonna scrub the walls down with a vinegar/borax solution and then maybe even bleach as well before sealing and painting.

One step at a time.

when you go to get your paint from the paint store, look for the packets of mildewcide you can add right into your gallons of paint, also the higher gloss/sheen is easier to clean(in case mildew becomes a problem) but not as great for light reflection.

also, not to shit up your thread, but do you have any friends in the electrical field? if you hire someone, breaking ground to bury wire/conduit might result in that electrician having to pull a permit from the town office depending on your local ordinance.id want the least amount of eyes on that project if i was in a non-friendly state.that sounds like a decent size room,id want a big sub panel.not sure how many lights you plan on running, but the dehumidifier,i personally would have on its own circuit, lights too,on their own circuits.the size of the subpanel in that room is going to be determined by how many breaker openings you have at your house panel.which brings up a question, how much free space do you have in your house panel? are there breakers in every spot in your home panel? if so,your project just got a little more complicated.gl
