I have a plant that is only a couple of weeks into the veg cycle... I noticed that the older leaves started to yellow and brown and dry up... The bigger, newer fan leaves have yellow and brown spots, while the veins remain green. the newest fan leavs are curled up towards the light. I am under a 400w and just flushed my hydroponic system. what should i do? what sort of nutes should it have??

well my pH is right between 6 and 7 and i dont know my ppm unfortunately. i was going to buy a meter but my cashflow wasnt doing too well at the time. i am using a micro thats 5-0-1 and gro thats 2-1-6 but only half of the amount suggested per gallon since the plant is so young

ph for hydro should be 5.0 to 6.0 max! Those rust spots look like a magnesium deficiency, are you using a cal/mag supplement?

what would you recommend using as one? i thought that the nutrient solutions i was using had enough. its .5% per teaspoon. i am just using the general hydroponics flora line.

If you are running ph that is too high, which 6-7 is way too high for hydro, then your plants will suffer until the ph comes down. Too high on the ph causes nutrient lockout and the plants will have all kinds of defiencies. I can see a combination of defiencies magnesium (mentioned above) and nitrogen.

Change everything out (not your plants though) and start from the beginning. Do you have anything to test the ph? Because that is your first defense, once you know the ph then you can begin to heal the problem.

Good luck with it.
Btw for this reason hydro drove me nuts and i went soil.

The flora series is good food and is ph balanced for hydro grows. Even though hydro was, in my opinion a pain in the butt, when i switched to the flora series i had better results from the series.

Good luck

i plan on testing the pH today. Once I do that, I am going to restart my nutrient solution correct? I have the flora grow which is 5 0 1 and also a 2 1 6 which was working fine i guess until the pH went too high. I also have fish emulsion which is 5 1 1 and the resoirvor is 2.6 gallons.. Anything else I might add?

run straight water for a couple of days. a ppm meter is like 20 bucks on ebay. then add your nutes back slowly. flora is good stuff.
