Using Titan controller on 27 gallon tough totes.

I have a 24 site DIY RDWC one ten inch net pot in a 27 gallon tough tote. I'm wanting to not run the full 24 sites all RDWC due to root rot problems in the past.

So I thought why not use the 27 gallon tote, its the same net pot height as titans 4 gallon bucket.
So my question is can I run these larger 27 gallon totes instead of the 4 gallon buckets.

I have 2 of the titan controllers so I figured 2 12 site systems side by side each with the larger totes.
This would speed up the "fill" time. I have 200 gallon res for each system. And res chillers.

My thoughts are the bigger the tote ran off the titan means no standing water on the bottom when roots fill out a 4 gallon bucket fast.

And because its not in constant water, I was going to run hydroton, and figured I would fill for 15 minutes and then drain for 15 minutes. Any ideas would be great on how to time the system, based on hydroton. Also remember it will probably take a full 5 minutes to fill 12 larger totes.

My friend tried to put in a larger fill pump, and it filled the 4 gallon controller bucket too fast and hit the top "shut off" float before all his totes where filled.

My thought is im really decreasing my chances of root rot doing this. Yet gaining the advantage of a larger tote, this system will be top fed the whole way through, so I can veg them top feed in the ten inch net pots for 4 weeks in a seperate veg room before transplanting into the larger totes. And keep my room constantly in flower.
I want to harvest one system 12 plants every month. So that I can veg in my 4x8 ebb and flow tray for a nice 4 weeks.

Please let me know if i'm missing something. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Again I dont mind losing a little poundage due to peace of mind.

I will run between 24 and 28k wattage

Any ideas?

Thanks,
