Vegging

Hi all, I'm thinking of purchasing a high wattage led (500-600) to replace my 1k hid that throws too much heat for the room it's in. However, every option I see online seems to be 7 or 8 bands and are focused more on flowering than the veg. Seems to me that if 80% of the leds in the light are in the red spectrum, that it's a waste for vegging. Is that correct? I've seen several lights that are made for veg only but they're either too small or too expensive. I'm growing 12 plants in a homemade double 35 gal bin/scrog setup and really only want to use one light to veg.

t-5s are your answer. A 4'x2' rack with 8 bulbs will run you less than ~$350 including bulbs. A great investment for any grower.

Thanks for the responses! I actually found a 12 bulb t5 drawing 648w for $189 shipped. Thought that was a good deal. Better bet for vegging than led?
