Ventilation DUCTING, acoustic ducting vs. insulated ducting

Hello all!
I have been doing a lot of research on this subject over the last week and there seems to be alot of confusion. Many people talk about the benefits of "acoustic" ducting but seem to be talking about insulated ducting.
ACOUSTIC DUCTING SEEMS TO BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN THE USA OR CANADA. I cannot find anything but 'insulated ducting' that is used for preventing heat loss as shown:
http://www.homedepot.ca/product/flexible-insulated-duct-residential-4-inchx10-foot/963988
It is insulated on the outside and is not designed for sound mitigation.
THE ONLY REAL ACOUSTIC DUCTING I CAN FIND IS IN THE UK OR AUS....now I understand that the insulated ducting would still be better than simple flexible duct work but does anyone know if there
is a way to get REAL acoustic ducting in north america??

Appreciate any input, I am trying to get the best bang for my buck and would much prefer proper acoustic ducting over thermally insulated ducting

Cheers!

Google is your friend, and auntie E-Bay is always around ....but at the end of the day, anything that obstructs the airflow will make a noise, the advantage over thermal insulated ducting is that it does suppress noise, just look for any SMOOTH interior ..

To truly suppress as much noise at possible I recommend....

1) building an acoustical fan box from MDF and lining inside with acoustical foam. And hanging with bungee cords.

2) Run duct silencers on both sides of the fan.One right before the fans intake side, and one right after the fans exhaust side.

3) Oversized insulated ducting.Example...6" fan 8" insulated ducting. It cuts down on pressure losses making for better airflow as well as dropping the velocity/speed of air moving around in the ducting (which accounts for most of the noise).

Sorry to revive an old thread ... but like MJD, I've also been looking everywhere for acoustic ducting in North America. If anyone else still needs some, I found a Canadian company that has good quality ducting at a fair price. I've used their fabric acoustic ducting (Fab6TX) and am going to try out their self-standing inner aluminium type (T/L-A) as well. Their url is:
http://www.novaflex.com/productcart/pc/T-L-A-Triple-Lock-Acoustic-Duct-60p559.htm
http://www.novaflex.com/productcart/pc/Fabriflex-Type-6T-51p510.htm

Just a heads up ... they sell insulated ducting as well, so make sure to get the acoustic ducting - it has the small holes in the first layer to dampen sounds. Ahh .. also ... they usually work with big orders, but will do a 10ft length, if you ask. Probably best not to mention cannabis to them.:)

Hope it helps
