Ventilation/Odor control query

I am having some issues trying to decide what to do about ventilation. Here is a mock up of the room, it's not exact but fairly close for these purposes I suppose. The actual room is still identifiable and we are in the process of clearing it out now. I will make actual pics available when we begin the set up in a few weeks.

We will be using air cooled lights, though not a closed system. I am looking at an 8" CAN fan and carbon filter combo for odor control. This area is not heated or cooled and even in this 4 season area of the US it gets very cold towards winter's end and is a sauna by the end of summer. Until the unit is installed next year I will be using a portable electric heater and installing the air conditioner into the wall that adjoins the livingroom to keep the temps and humidity under control.

My query is how should I run the duct work? I would like to have both HID lights on the same duct, but wonder if placing the carbon filter before them in an open system will result in smell leaching into the exhausted air? I also would like to have a fresh air intake because the entire room is being sealed with Panda plastic. The area above the floweing table is not available because the light is on a rail , so that only leaves the area above the veg table for intake and exhaust.

I have read that any turn in the duct cuts fan performance so I am open to using multiple fans and/or filters if necessary. Obviously this is not stealth but I really do not want any of the smell in another area of my home. If the stuff dh smokes is any indicator of what to expect from these strains I'd like to get this right the first time.

Any suggestions? How do I run this to control odor and keep the girls happy
