would this work? have my intake be 30x30 box ducting coming from crawl space, then split into 3 14" intake trunks that run the length of my rows. Each light has 6" or 8" flex insulated tubing (i could probably do 6" if im doing this method) coming from the intake 14" trunk to the 14" insulated exhaust trunk for each row of lights then at the end of each exhaust row trunk I have a 14" canfan 1823cfm fan ($520) or 14" vortex fan 2900cfm ($1000). Each of these insulated exhaust trunks almost directly after the fan run into a 20x20 insulted box duct that runs into the attic. does this sound like the best way to run the system? i've done by homework but i cant find a ton of information on this topic :( or maybe i've just been looking in the wrong spot ha!

i was also wondering... which of your strains do you recommend for medical marijuana? (top 2 or 3)

Is there a cooling system that i can attach to my 6" vortex? like a mountable a/c system so i can have full privacy i live in apartments. i dont have outside vents and my house a/c/ systems bill is too much.

Hey all... Maybe I am missing something here - drawing air from out side, through a sealed hood and blowing it back outside... What does that do for the rooms air? If everything is sealed, where is the air for your plants coming in?

I could see bringing in fresh air at the ground level and then sucking it up through the hoods and then out.... Or vise-versa if it is winter, bring in warmer air from the ceiling down through the hoods - heated air over the plants and then vent outside.

Hey sub, I'm curious as to which would be more efficient for venting three 600w hps's: One large exhaust fan at the end like in your design or a smaller inline fan at each reflector? My predicament is that I only have a single 6" rigid duct leaving the grow area to use for my lighting exhaust. What's the highest cfm fan I could use to blow through that 6"? Right now I have a 400cfm fan pulling through a Can50 just venting ambient air and it seems to work very well. My reflectors right now are just cheap little econowings. I know you're supposed to have 300cfm per light to do it proper, but a 900cfm extractor fan sounds big for a 6" pipe. If I switched to vented hoods would three smaller fans attached at the hoods be better or not? Just an idea I have been kicking around. Any advice is much appreciated.

You cant force enough air through a 6" for 3 hoods you will have heat issues for a 3K you need 1200 cfm's and a min of a 10" outlet.

The room is not vented thats why I call it a sealed room.
The air cools the hoods only
CO2 is provided fro plant growth.
This eliminates all smells and pest.

Thank you. Thats what i wanted to know.
sorry I meant to ask in the last post, You can
push air thru the canister filters? Is it the same as
sucking air thru them? I'd like to do this too.
I have a Can 100 filter. I'll call the manufacturer.
Are these filters ok. Or do you think they're crap.
Don't worry you won't hurt my feelings.
Thanks for all the help. and especially the genetics!!!
:dunce:

hey look at my post # the year i was born. lame

well I answered my own question by calling Can.
they told me push or pull it works the same.
Sub, thanks for all the help!!!
I've been reading all the threads here and on breedbay.
its been very helpful.
next stop bcga site thanks for all the links.

hi subcool . i have a question hope u can help. i am thinking of making a closet a grow area the size of it is 4x4x8 and i can run ventilation through the attic but i cant understand how this is economical? if i have a fan pulling air out of my house through the attic . in the summer time it will run may central air to death i would think and in the winter run my heat bill up from pulling the heat or ac out of the house. if i am wrong please help me see the light :) . also i was wondering if i could instead of ventilating to the attic. just blow it back into the room that the closet is in. is this possible with a scrubber? the room that the closet is in . is 10x10x8 . if i was to suck the cool air in from the bottom and blow it out the top back into the 10x10 room would this work? or do i have to ventilate to the attic? hope this all makes sence. im gonna use .

1 -400 watt mh probe start , old set up i know but all i have now.
and maybe 5 to 7 plants.

Yeah if you have a closet than you can treat it differently. You can probably get away with just hooking an inline fan up to the closet and pulling fresh air in from the other room. You would probably have to cycle fresh air into the larger room though. If smell in the larger room is a problem just hook up a carbon filter in the room and let it run.

yes but is venting into the same room as the closet ok? or still should i vent into the attic? and if so is it gonna cause my ac or heat to run constant? Has anyone experienced this? and how powerful of a ventilation fan should i get? the closet or grow room is only gonna be 4x4x 8 ft . also if it means any thing on the ventilation. besides the 10x10 room the closet is in i can also leave the door open to the 10x10 room for extra air. just dont know if this is the way it should be done. any replys? :)

just to add i grew a few plants about 20 yrs ago and i only grew once and ended it. i have the same equipment i had then . so the light is still good but old . its a probe start and ballast . at that time i had a walk in closet . it was about 6x6x8 and i built a 4x4 sty- ra- foam box with a square hole cut in the side like a dog box for access . and i had a rotating fan blowing on them from that hole. i didnt have a top on the box just a 400 watt light hanging and a squirrel cage fan vented to the attic . it worked really well cause i had a buddy that was already growing and had some kick ass clones . fool proof almost. :) anyway it was in a apartment and i quit cause i got paranoid . and i dont remember if sucking the air through the attic had a major effect on my electric bill or not. its been so long ago. now im in a house and i can open the door to the closet and all like i mentioned before and i just dont know if i should still ventilate to the attic . with out wasting alot of electric. times are hard and i also dont wanna raise suspicion either due to sudden high electric bills. right now i am getting back into growing cause i have been walking in the park on nature trails for health reasons and i seen a few pot plants along the trail . i can spot them a mile away . :) but anyway i pulled them up and brought them home and they are out side right now and prolly wont amount to much . im scared to death to order online for seeds and was wondering is it pretty safe? and at the moment witch seed bank is most stealthy right now and the best seeds? if posted in wrong area just say so i can post in proper place . and is feminized seeds not as good as regular? if not i can buy regular and just clone the best gurl :) cheers

check out all the info you can on CEA's. Controlled Environment Agriculture. It's like making your closet a greenhouse while the 10x10 room is your atmosphere. Since you don't wanna run your central air to death, you may wanna invest in a water-cooled heat exchanger.

thanx blakbotany :) good info but is this the best way to go? im looking for the best and effecent way to go also . any tips on keeping central air from not running to death would be greatly appreciated :)

ok very simple guys.. i have a closet i want to grow in. it is 4x4x8 , i have a probe start 400 watt mh light and a squirrel cage fan that im not sure how powerfull but 20 yrs ago when i did it . it worked fine for the same amount of space . how ever my space is different now.. i have a 4x4x8 closet and the room is 10x10x8 .. and on top of that i CAN leave the door open for ventilation. . so my question is. can i run my squirrel cage fan right out in to the 10x10 room? and have fans blowing in that 10x10 room to replace the air with no problem? i wont be growing anymore then 5 to 7 pants and i will bud them at about 18 inches high. if i should exhaust them to the attic please advise how . i have heard of mold issues that i want to be certain to have control of if this is a issue . ?

We use a combination of air conditioners, dehumidifiers, Hepa Filters and UV lamps to control the Environment

In our main labs we have installed Mini-split heat pumps with Hepa and Re-heat.
