Looks good. How' the light your building? You remember when you dropped in on hlg's thread and started talking shit?

http://rollitup.org/t/diy-with-quantum-boards.927159/page-376#post-13915137
Ofc i do. Are you, hlgs grandson? Lol

Haven't built it yet, the other light i built i fine for now, but i will be building one soon.

I see that you built your own strip light and didnt buy a QB. Why u so hostile to me when i talked shit about HLG? Who are you in relations to them that you'd cuss me out without me even talking to you? Lol

Because its fucking annoying seeing the amount of dumb ass uneducated mongoloid fucktards come and talk shit in threads who talk a big game but in reality ain't shit. This obviously makes you an expert in the field to criticize companies. I'm not in relations with anyone hence why you see I built my own light and not a qb board. There was at least 12 people talking shit to you in that thread before you changed your attitude and started sucking up.

It'd be nice if you could use your own advice.

Oh man...i can tell you're young, so ill let you off a bit. Please have some manners, or stay off my thread if you dont want to have any. Cheers ;)

Good day everyone,
I have been posting bits and pieces all over and wanted to start a grow journal of my experiment. I wanted to design an area that can grow 1 plant very nicely. Looking at most tent sizes and how many people put plants into I decided on something smaller so I used 18" x 18" x 48". My plan is to do a scrog grow and top it fim a few times in veg to maximize space. I designed the light to be a complete coverage vs just using 1 cob and driving them hard.

Grow cab 18"x18"x48"
made of white 5/8" Melamine
(I picked up 1 - 4' x 8' sheet for 30$ and this was enough material for complete cab and door.)

Light =16" x 12"
4 x 96 pcs Samsung 3500k 80 CRI lm561c 16`` strips, each done in 8s12p beach run at 1400ma which is 116.6667ma per diode.
6 x vero 10 2000k 65 CRI chips being run at 350ma each.
Samsung strips are attached to 1.5" 1/8" Aluminum u channel
Veros are attached to 1.25" 1/8" Aluminum U chanel
Drivers are mounted externally and use quick connects.
HLG-120H-C1400B
ELG-75-C350A

Circulation,
I am currently using 6 x Panasonic Panaflo FBA09A24H which I got for bargain price of 4$ a pop, these things can be run at 24v or 12v .17a and hit around 55 CFM(however at 24v these things sound like a bathroom exhaust fan, 12v they are dead quiet so I run them at 12v for half power).

Carbon Filter,
I built this myself out of 1/8" black acrylic and added two 90mm pc fans running at .25a each one intake and one exhaust, I make my own carbon filter by rolling 10 micron felt covered in activated carbon so its like a sushi roll or ro membrane layered and sealed with some zip ties.

Water is a ro\di membrane with a ph of 6.
current nutes are a growtek Kickstart for the seedling and transition phase, Im going to transplant to the 5 gal smart pot in a weeks time and then I will switch to GH MaxiGrow, I just want a simple dry nute that I can mix myself and adjust strength. For flower I will use Just GH MaxiBloom. Also supplementing with cal mag because of RO.

Strain is Purple afghan Kush by Dinafem. Fem seeds.
so far both seeds germinated 100% using water glass method for 18hrs and then switch to paper towel.
I stupidly killed first seedling by not paying attention to temps and it got real cold and pretty sure I killed the root because it never did anything once i planted it, waited 2 weeks then gave up and germed another.

Here is the 1st pic which is just the 3500k on

Here is a shot of both the 3500k + 2000k at full power

And last pic shows just the 2000k diodes so you can get a sense of how different the spectrum are

Here is some shots of the light so you can see how I made the heatsink, I had the veros sunken a bit so to create a mini refelector using the slightly longer 1.5" channels. I used Arctic illumnia silver paste and nylon screws and bolts to secure the strips to the heatsinks. The samsungs use 18 AWG solid core and the veros use 22 AWG solid core.

Here is a shot of how the cab looks currently, The area to the right of the light is the Air intake on the cabinet, there are 3 of the panasonic fans setup in parallel blowing air cross the light and down to transfer heat towards bottom of box, Light stays cool to the touch doing this method. The big behemoth in front is temp fix for humidity, I was struggling with 30-38% RH and now get 55-60% so much better for veg but quite big so i think I will put it outside and direct a it towards and intake down below.

Now for some fun shots of the lil one.

This first shot is Oct 1, this is approx 9 days after seed.

Next is done on Oct 3rd, not much growth

Here we fast forward to today 6 days later Oct 9th,

My experiment so far is using the veros 2000k's for veg as well. I was originally going to use them for a flower boost but then @Rocket Soul suggested trying them in veg because they contained no IR, just heavy on yellow and orange. So far growth has been great but will continue to post progress to see how it vegs and how much stretch, so far it is very compact with only a few mm's to cm between each node.

Hope you enjoy,
Any and all Feedback is welcome, thanks for looking.

Congrats on the build. Looking to do something similar myself. ..
What's the material thickness of that channel... 1/8"?
Any measurements of surface temps either before or after mounting? Wondering how effective your UChannel is and if I can get away with just 1/8 or 1/16 thick AL bar stock.

Man, your a fool. Lol. I was pointing out that they use a samsung diode. Go buy a quantum board then stick up for them. You fucking built your own, silly. Lmfao. Have fun with your shitty little plant, bro.

yes it is 1/8" thickness, top of the heat sink gets to around 85 degrees farenheit when light is cranked up to 145w and the surface stays around 77 - 78. I have my intake blowing across the heat sinks to help with cooling. These strips are very dense with the narrow footprint and how many leds are on it. each strip is 400mm x 25mm with 96 leds. they stay cool to the touch. I have my buds within 12" and no light burn.

I don't know what that makes me when I DON'T go into threads and talk shit about a companies product that others are discussing. Normal?
I tried it on you by seeing how you liked someone going into your thread and saying some shit, but you clearly don't like it so not sure why you do it to others?

Let me educate you on your backtracking your shit talking.

Not that long when you go to the same factory that HLG goes to through alibaba com lmfao. Act like hlg does anything of their own. They are just a middleman for you idiots who dont know this. Its an american company sellin chinese drivers and korean diodes and gets a chinese factory to assemble it all....
then when Stephen actually responds you suddenly aren't talking shit

Cool. Serious talk, no trolling, are you planning on a q series build in the future?
You got called on your BS and got nothing, little goofs like you make this forum crap with all your high school drama trolling bullshit. Your like all the rest that come and talk a big game how they are gonna do this and that but really never do shit. I did build my light own light by sourcing parts from many suppliers, not going to kingbrite and getting them to do all the work. I am even trying a new spectrum that most haven't which was the point of THIS thread. To grow a SMALL plant and keep it very short and see about reducing flowering time, all of which I DID. The fact you honestly think its a shitty plant speaks for itself, Im guessing every other person who has commented or liked this thread is wrong?

Got nothing? Lol. My whole point on that post was that HLG doesnt do anything of their own. Without knowing, i asked if HLG is looking into Samsung's new "q series", lm301b, and yes, steven is going to add that into HLGs boards as the next step in the evolution of their overpriced middle middleman board....another samsung diode. Not an HLG diode. I wasnt accepting defeat, i was pointing out to the community that they went from lm561c to lm301b. All they do is make a sheet of aluminum and add on samsung diodes you tard. Go buy a quantum board, fanboy. I wasnt even talking to you in the first place and never uttered a word to you till you came at me talking shit about how my plant looks shit. Lol, you came talking shit to me like a bitch defending your fucking HLG. I dont know who the fuck you are, but if this was real life face to face your bitchass would stay out of my business and talk shit behind my back instead. Quit acting all tough online and mind your own business. I hope for your sake you dont act like this irl.

Wow, thats 145w? Lol...my dandelion is grown under 150w of citi 1212. Lol. Great job "mongoloid" lmfao..omg i cant believe you called me a mongoloid. Youre amazing, bro.

This thread has me entertained. sux to have bs on ya thread tho.
Lol it is what it is. The site should really have a skill testing question to stop half these idiots from joining. You can't control what other people say I can only control what I grow which is pretty bomb shit.

Sigh I really wish you weren' this stupid. Yes your right my light is only a 145w over a 18" x 18" area. Works out to be about 65w a square foot.

Your using 150w in a 36" x 24" area. Which is roughly 25w a sq foot. Keep telling yourself your light is more powerful. This is getting pathetic, literally every post you make just shows everyone how dumb you are.

You suck at growing. Just admit it and start with a dandelion. Lol

Go ask HLG Steven for some tips. Or just the tip

My rip off veg light runs 164watts max. I run it at about 1 Hundo tho
I didn't solder all the chips on the strips. But I did solder all strip connections :) 240 diodes per panel. Took me 3 hours to put together. Is it cool?20170702_122933.jpg
