Hello all on RIU!!
I figured I would start my build thread tonight since I made most of the orders today. It's going to be a 4 cob light using vero 29 gen 7's. 3000k 80cri FV of 52v. They will be driven @ 1050mah with a meanwell HLG-240H-1050B. Heat sinks are going to be 4 Arcitc Alpine 64+ CPU coolers. I decided to buy a cheap new 24x24 grow tent as the one I have been using for years is on it's last leg. A friend just bought one and I was throughly impressed with the quality, It almost rivals my secret jarden ds60. I will include some links to the places I bought the components.

UPDATE:They had my 52v cobs in stock until I clicked on buy, Then they were out of stock all of a sudden, So I instead of waiting for an unknown amount of time changed it up, I went to a 1400 mah driver and bought the 37.7volt 80cri 3000k 7th gen vero 29's. I still am going to be able to hit the 50 watt per cob goal but not with the more efficient 50 volter's . I went to radio shack today and bought a new 25 watt soldering iron for electronics cause my usual one is was to hot for electronics. I also bought a 100k ohm potentiometer, Knobs for it and some rosin core solder. Tractor supply provided me with the angle aluminum for the frame 1/16th inch x 3/4inch. Since I'm doing this in a 2 x 2 grow tent I opted for an 18"x 18" frame. More to come folks as my parts arrive :) BBStuff.jpg

I got the frame built and riveted together this evening, The heat sinks were delivered today , I found a "driver" at walmart in the clearance isle , It was originally supposed to be a power wheels charger, But it fit my use perfectly, 12 volts and 1 amp, exactly what my four heat sink fans use. I was NOT paying 35 dollars for a phone charger so I went searching. Driver and cobs should be here tomorrow or thursday. I do have a question for ya though, Would painting the heatsinks black to match the paint job on the frame I'm going to do be bad ? I will keep you updated :)BB20161221_031552.jpg 20161221_031612.jpg

Good evening RIU !! I will be getting my driver, cobs and thermal paste tomorrow , So tonight I got done what I could , I painted the frame a flat black , Wired the Arctic Alpines together in parallel , Soldered the potentiometer . I was thinking about how I could make it look good and figured on putting it into a box, I got into the ammo crate and pulled out an empty box of 17 Hmr, I drilled a few holes and painted it flat black too.

Looks great man. What was the total $
All together about 350.00 with all the fixin's, New soldering gun, Wires etc etc, Only about 290 for the main components. About 390.00 with the new grow tent . But If I can pull 3/4's of a pound off of it every 50-55 days in a 2 x 2 tent it will pay for itself in the first run. I think it will be more then doable with a 16 plant SOG , You think it's possible ??

Mmmm. It's possible but over 10oz in a 2x2 will be hard with out thought out canopy management.

I say 4 lollypoped plants in 3 gallon bags all single stem colas. That should be a half LB no problem in your 2x2.

I was thinking a 2-7 day veg and then to 12/12 to make them single cola plants, in 5.5 x 5.5 inch square pots for the first run, If it works and I get close to the goal I will build a 2x2 flood and drain since they dont make them with 24 inch inside dimensions . I am trying for as quick of a turn around as possible but I will surely be open to changing my approach if it does not work out :)BB

Half LB shouldn't be a problem so you'll get to where you wanna be. Are you gonna run CO2?

Not this run but with the ppfd I've been told this thing is going to pump out I prolly should look into what it would cost to get a system set up, Like led's I've never dabbled with c02.

In a 2x2 a single tank of co2 would last a good while. For general planning with the cobs and yield plan on getting 1.2 grams per watt. Anything more and you have some great strains and a green thumb. Any less and you gotta low yield strain and or had some issues during your grow.

Im in the process of getting the COB's mounted and wired. I got the driver wired and the dimmer installed. The tapping of the holea was a pain in the ass 4-40 taps are tiny and very easy to break. I broke two in the process . If anyone wants to do this with vero 29's I'd use a 6-32 tap and screws. They fit perfectly. More to come tonight , Merry Christmas :) BB20161224_195125.jpg 20161224_195029.jpg
