Water extraction ideas

I have a hydro setup in a very inconvenient spot to empty water. What is the best way to evacuate water from my hydro bin to a drain using a hose?

Probably just grab a water pump from Wally World and put it in your bin with the hose leading to your drain. How big is your Rez? I would think you need to wash it out every Rez change tho also so unless it's huge I'd just deal without the pump imo

Back when I did hydro I used a small sump pump piped Thur my Rez to a ball valve then ran pipe to my basements sump. It was great open the valve and plug her in and boom 50 gallons gone in an instant.

fish tank siphon?
Nah, I am only using about 5-7gal per bin, I want to be able to siphon most of the water out. I was hoping that I could use a pump, I found a drill pump that might do it. Was hoping for a pump that could do it quick. The bins are large and awkward.

I may change to aero buckets, just wonder if it would make more sense to do DWC instead if I go with buckets.

That was my setup 50 gal Rez piped out to bubble buckets and one big ass air pump feeding them and the Rez air. Plus black buckets are cheap as hell plus I had a pump that constantly circulated water from the loop back to the Rez I'll have to see if I have pics of all my old setup and how I had it.

Really? I love growing in dirt anymore. I miss how much faster they grew.
The trichome production just didn't do as well. The aero was way more potent. I had decent yields in dirt, but then tried hydro and was blown away. I am considering going back to dirt, as I learn more technique. .

Dirt yields for me are on par anymore as far as trichromes and resin production I feel my dirt grows are above my hydro setup or at least on par. Look into making super soil

Damn, and I just bought a shop vac a month ago. lol

This is great though, thank you man.

Def worth the $$$, new to hydro and have enough issues.

Do what works for you we can only give suggestions.
Yeah, I found that same pump for the new shop vac I bought, just a different housing. This should make life a lot easier.

you can buy small 1/2 inch bottom/side intake pumps. for like 12 bucks.
I need something that can reach into the bottom of a 30gallon bin and remove all water. The vac is perfect bacause of the long reach past giant root systems. I can tilt the bin a bit to get that last bit of water into the corner and suck it out. Someone mentioned cleaning the bins after harvest, but I never change the water in bins, as the bacteria/cozyme keeps all nice and clean. The water stays clean as can be, at least translucent and not milky, doesn't smell either.

I appreciate all ideas bud, thank you. I just winged my setup, not taking into account all the things that go wrong. I am tired of lugging all that water up 2 flights of stairs. While it has done wonders for my shoulder muscle, it sucks to do stoned.

One last thing. I am installing spigots on the underside of my bins and building extraction ports into the bins to save time. That will come later.
