I'm wondering if anyone has tried adding a tiny amount of rooting hormone when watering plants when they are in the seedling stage and early veg? To aid in root development.

Yes, I started using KLN from DynaGro in hydro several years ago after a root rot problem...
It worked so well I still use it in my soil grows.. seedling thru 2 week veg..

depends on the media im using. if i'm in hempies i use a little KLN for the first couple of waterings. if i'm in soil or coco i establish a colony early on with scd bio-ag, (lactobacillus) and Root Assist, from Skunk Labs, has tricho, humic acid, kelp extract, all kinds of mycorrhizae , and a load of different bacillus. 2 tbsp of scd, 1/2 tbsp root assist in a gallon of water thats been ph'ed to 3.4, add 2 tbsp molasses, shake it up good and let it sit overnight. water all your new plants with it, then repeat about every 2 weeks and you'll have roots climbing out of the pots
