Hate to be a pedant lol but I do agree with your sentiment and point. The actual numbers are more like 30% of our annual "defense budget" to eradicate hunger as a cause of death worldwide. Although that was a rough estimate and comes from before Trump's increase in spending. Interestingly, such an investment could arguably make us safer and since it is called "defense budget" it kind of makes sense to do it.
