I am wondering about doing a 4th week fan leaf trim, I trimmed at day one, day 14 and later on at 2 weeks to go or day42. I am asking because my fan leaves have grown in huge and are blocking bud sites. Any body do it?

I do it all the time. You'll have people that will tell you that your plant needs all of its leaves and that it's bad and that's fine to believe, but I've never had issues with doing it. I see an instant boost in growth to the tips that were hidden behind the fans removed. As long as you don't pluck your plant bare you'll be fine. My general rule is always leave 1 fan leaf per node to power that node.

Ya sure I bet it would love to keep all its leaves but space is money and your 20% efficient leaves are stepping on another plants 80% efficient leaves then what is good the whole is better then is what is good for the individual.
Efficiency of outcome over efficiency of opportunity.
What just happened? I am a plant far leftist?
Punch a nazi spidermite
There I go again

@HazednConfused I think you have convinced me

As long as you're giving your plant the nutes that it needs, the need for fan leaves becomes less.
You need fans for armor against shit like deficiencies, something to fall back on before it gets to your buds.
Good luck man!

That is actually my biggest concern with this. My 20 year old strain it is near impossible to get enough nitrogen and magnesium into it. It really cannibalizes the fan leaves weeks 3-6. This run I am thinking it is looking better as I am giving it an equal part cal mag plus a smidgen of Ammonia nitrate to my one part A and one part B and only a few cranky looking leaves.and so far not even a moody leaf on my new strain.
Ya maybe I should not this run........ or some ........... or half......... GDMFer......
Got me thinking again.

i do it sometimes to improve airflow or deal with pests/disease..just be careful as some sativa's will sulk for days, dead, damaged diseased shit must go, maybe strategic pruning to improve light penetration.. i try not to remove more than i need as i'm sure the turpenes in your final buds are contributed to by the presence of the foliage. . i could be talking bollocks in lab conditions just my 2 peneth
