I am new to cloning so I have been looking at the ways by plain tap water and I have about 6 so far in the tap reason being I had 2 in soil for approx.. 2 weeks with the schultz clone powder and they wilted and wilted and wilted finally I said screw it i saw no sign of root starts so i had to throw one away it was beyond repair And I took the bigger one and just for the hell of it put it in a cup that lets a bit of light in not much and used saran wrap and a napkin(to block direct light) as I mentioned I had 6 in the little red party cups same method with saran wrap and napkin and the 6 are not wilting at all but there is no root growth at all and they have been in water approx week and 1/2 but when I checked the other cup with the clone that had been in soil for 2 weeks and water for 1-2 days it has root starts....I am wondering if this strain is one of the harder ones to clone it's from skunk bagseed the seed came from amsterdam like 8 yrs ago couldnt tell you what it is looks more like a deisel strain I have the mothers in my journal if someone reads this that has had this problem give me a shout.....peace folks:peace:

why not break down and buy a humidity dome some rooting gel and rock woll cubes and a light 70 buck maybe....dont be cheap
Be very cheap... Buy a propagation tray ($6 at most), a 23 watt/1600 lumen cfl light ($5) & some rockwoll cubes or condense soil pellets. (usually $0.10-0.25 each). You should be set with that setup, I root all my clones as so and have lost one yet.

Edit: Forgot about rooting hormone... I would buy rooting powder. It is much cheaper and comes with more.

i had trouble with clones at first too. My first success came using the keg cups and plastic wrap like you. But i put them in rockwool plugs and packed moist seedling mix soil around the plug to keep it shut. Takes 3 weeks.

Now I use the dome and heat pad and it takes around 2 weeks.

But i had better survival rates in the cups
