What causes the infamous hard black ash or crackling? Cool article...

I try to always under feed rather then over feed and i do taper my nutes off as well

Anytime i take a plant over a certain ppm i start to cringe.

Even though i taper my nutes off to a fade

I STILL flush

And will continue to do so :)

I dont need people to tell me im wrong cause
Its not their weed, its mine.

Peace.
To all flushers and non flushers

But i still say as long as your weeds
Taste good til the LAST hit and burns to a fine white ash powder no klinker

I dont care what you did to achieve it

As to giving nutrients to the plant in its last week
. I dont need a few extra grams more then i need weed that i like to smoke.

But this is my style AND IM NOT SAYING ITS RIGHT OR THE BEST BUT ITS WHAT I DO

PEACE ALL
I do feed straight water last 10 days to get some fade I don't call that flushing just don't c a need to pour 5 gals of water thur a 3 gal pot unless I over fed

Of course keep doing what you know works for you. I’m not arguing. Pretty sure you have done this longer than me.

But you misunderstand my point to feeding. And I Grow in potting soil so uptake is not so direct as your method.

I found the medium green healthy plants fed closest to harvest but not overfed had the highest potency and complexity.

The yield can be a lot more than a few grams with some plants too. I had plants flushed for 2 weeks in soil like the forums say do 3/4 an oz. less per plant.

I do go longer than most I see. Like was said above. Until the flowers stop growing and pistols are mostly turned in we ain’t there yet.

Many are going water only like 2 weeks early. Won’t reach its potential on a schedule like that.

u no some of mine does sit in totes for a bit I guess that's like curing,it does mellow an blend every thing together but I love my fresh ripe flower

Sometimes the best high comes from 3 day dried still hanging bud. Still some too wet to smoke easy.

Can give a vibrant high. The breeder of my main Seeds likes to vape the flowers wet like that. And he is an ms patient growing a lot of plants for pollen.

Let's agree on one thing it's best to feed just water at the end of life cycle ,I think must people slow back on nutes at this point mainly water witch is i fact flushing

Not true, I have fed up until harvest dried and cured and no black ash and that’s a fact. You can prefer to flush and that’s fine but not flushing doesn’t cause black ash.
I believe the difference of opinion on flushing is the same difference of opinion on feeding strength. If you feed high ppm then you probably should flush. If you feed on a low ppm schedule then you may not need to flush. I only feed at 500-600 ppm in 200 ppm tap water and I don't notice a difference when I flush them. They will turn yellow almost over night when they get that straight water. That's probably why I don't get the black ash either, I don't over-feed them.

Ha ha what is it then "leaching" thats the old old school of triple the volume of a pot and thats why i switched from coco to straight hydro :)

But i get what you nean but its basically the same thing your just doing it over time rather then at once
Peace :)

I agree for the most part and i know you grow dank herbs :)

But i have found my tastiest buds have been on a taper down feed schedule.

With a one to two week flush i think since im in hydro it matters a little more like you said soil buffers and hydro is very direct.

But i find aromas and potency have LOOTTS
Of variables environment being a BIG one imo

Ie hot dry grown buds never taste as good as a cool winter run at least in my exp:)

Im going to try drying my root zone out on the last couple days and drop the temps to see what she does

We are pretty much agreeing and it’s good to see we see the same things in the plants and react similar even with different styles of growing.

Thanks for the compliment. Shame we can’t share. :-)

If your leaf tips are yellow and/or clawing/curling, no amount of "flushing" can help.
Starving your plants will just make your leaves yellow. The same elements will still be in the bud.
Don't over feed. Dry slooooooooowly.
