What do you do to cool your growroom in the summer?

My first grow, the grow room is 70 and 78 near the plants.

This concerns me in a summer grow when the room will be 80-90 and the plants?
:o

Then what do you do short of turning on the AC or oscillating fans?

Thanks
Tom

If in hydro, you can use frozen 1.75 liter pop or water bottles filled with water in your rez. Be sure to leave the caps on.

If in soil, you can use a vented hood for your light, then vent the hot air out through the hood using a 4" Hurricane fan connected to the hood with dryer hose. Same thing to cool a hydro grow.

By the way, 70 - 90 degrees is still OK for the grow room or cabinet. The plants WILL survive that. Sometimes, my cabinet exceeds 100 degrees ... but I constantly rotate the frozen water bottles.

Its not the leaves you have to worry about, its the roots. Remember, pot grows just fine in desert climates. The damned things really want to survive ... but we kill them in spite of that fact.

I use a portable air conditioning unit that puts out 12,000 BTU's. I bpught it at Circuit City for $150.00 when it was on sale. If it ever got over 78 degrees in my cabinet, I fired up the a/c unit taped the inlet ducting to the front of the unit and I could have that thing to 69 degrees in 3 minutes. I never had a problem in the summer since that time and I have gotten it down now to where the temp only fluctuates when the lights go off. I want that to happen just like it does in nature.

Hey Major, just a couple notes, Do set up ur flowering schedual to nites to take advantage of cooler temps, say 7pm to 7am. A fan in your grow will keep plants from stressing to bad at 90-100 deg. if the air is moving, also helps to hav a fan pulling air out.Other advantages for fan is it will make the stems strong, and thirdly, stops bud rot on ur killer fat buds. Keep On Growin

Now ya got me thinking as to how I can channel my air from my air conditioner around the fidge and to my cabinet.....Hum.

I am on a drip system and on a real hot day last summer I opened my cabinet to see they were at 103 degrees and not very happy. Tops were bending over. I threw a couple bags of ice in the tray, it drips into the res. Gave them some fresh wartier and they came right back in an hour.

Now on hot days I throw a bag in before I leave. I leave it in the bag so it takes longer to melt and it works great.

Sorry, man ... I've been putting frozen water bottles in my rez for years to cool the solution during the summer months with no problems at all. All the roots "know" is that the water is cooler and more comfortable.

The problem here is that the dripping water is diluting your solution. Switch over to the frozen water bottles and your plant will be happier.
