Hey guys, I'm a new grower and I have been looking online at indoor grow lights. What do you guys think of this one? Do you think it would be a good choice? IMG_3464.PNGIMG_3465.PNG

What is your budget ? .... At least shoot for something that has documented grows under its belt .... Most cheap light makers churn out crappy panels to keep the money coming in more than trying to give good results.

I'm looking to spend up to 100 on a light. I'm on a pretty tight budget haha

Oh i didnt take in consideration that you were on a budget. But you can find used hoods and ballasts for pretty cheap, just be careful on what you buy, ask alot of questions (if thats the route your gonna take) youll be paying more for the bulbs.
I first started off growing inside by finding a nice hood and ballast for about $120 off facebook, and it lasted me for a few years.
I was also on a budget

If you are serious about growing, save your money for a good light. $100 isn't going to buy you a good light. Add more to that $100 budget when you can afford it.

This is defenitly better advice if your wanting to do everthing right. if you start on a budget, youll most likey end up spending more money than expected
But i have grown good crops on a tight budget

Thank you for the feedback guys. I'll continue to try and save up
Just buy the thing, it'll grow a couple of plants and it cheap as chips. Will it grow a huge plant, probably not but who knows lol. Just jump in and start growing, plenty of time to upgrade :).

It will grow 1 plant. Preferably an auto. Yield 1.5 ounces in 11 weeks. I'd rather see you get into a Viparspectra for that price range. I've seen some decent grows using them.
Or,
As mentioned try craigslist etc... I sold a real nice setup for $150 on there. Be careful if you're not in a "legal" state though. However if you go with HPS now you need atleast a 200 CFM fan, hoses etc.. The cost adds up. If you are in PA I know someone that has a good setup for you.

Not to mention a filter, etc. Yup it gets expensive real quick lol. ^^^^^^ what makes a viparspectra better? Honestly I have no clue as I run HID lights, but am curious why one is better than another when comparing the cheaper lights.

I think it's crap. Crappy crap.

Fools and their money are soon parted.
Compared to other cheap ones, what separates the good from the bad if there is such a comparison? I do see some pretty impressive grows from, say Mars, for instance but everyone says their crap. Not trying to fight at all but I am intrigued by the cheap light grows that actually seem quite nice.

Another analogy I was thinking of is if I waited and saved to buy a nice first car I'd still be saving lol. I'd never learned how to fix things with duct tape, never experienced the walk home at midnight due to a catastrophic failure of my 63 rambler lol. I always have used HID for flowering so my LED knowledge is gained from here and I gotta say it can be quite confusing and sometimes just nasty lol.

SEEM is the key word. Blurple LED works in veg but, no so in bloom. Some folks like them - many of those have not the experience under better lighting. "I did it cheap with less heat and less electric cost" Really? Bet my yield with HID of the same watts. Would yield more and with higher quality.....

Now move up to COB and that changes for normal home size grows....

The commercial viability (at this time) of LED use in large plant, large scale, commercial operations is not a wise choice - YET.

The stupid "war" over that issue, in another thread.....was a waste of time and space. Bottom line, I agree with @Odin* on that!
The use of LED tech in com. ops is not as effective as it can be. Com. ops with 10'+ plants are not effectively served by LED's.

If you want to piss and moan about it, and supply pics of existing com ops running LED's.....Go for it! Take a long look at the plant size and then find me their yield counts..... It's getting better all the time....NOT there yet!

Car? You got bad credit? Hell, they give cars to anybody nowa days! Screw you on interest but, you can get a car! Shop wisely - same thing apply's to lighting!

I just bought an 02 Audi TT as a toy for the summer. Low miles, nice power, stiff track type suspension. Damn blast to drive. In the fall, it goes to my oldest as his car is dying......Mmmm, maybe not. Chip it for horse power and it'll make a great road/track toy...Must have already thought that......I ordered Hooser track tires for it on Friday! Guess I'll get him something else....Wife ain't bitch'in either....she likes it so much, she's looking around to find one......$3300 was a good deal. Right rear ABS and the post - converter heat sensor was all it needed.

Oh trust me I agree that Hid is better, my question was more that there was a comparison made between the ops light and a vipraspec, both cheaper led's I think. And nope no credit at 16 lol. I bought my first new truck at 20 though with a brown paper bag filled with mostly 10's and 20's lol.
