What driver for 4x VERO29SE 80 CRI C ?

Can someone please reccomend a Meanwell driver for VERO29SE "C"/70V/80 CRI version. I would like to run four of these cobs efficiently for bloom.

What size space will you be using them in?

One hlg-185h-c1400b will drive two VERO29SE "C" at 100watt/cob $50 x 2. Heat sinks needs a fan.
One hlg-480h-c1400b will drive four VERO29SE "C" at 100watt/cob $140 x 1. Heat sinks needs a fan.

One hlg-185-c700b will drive all four VERO29SE "C" 50watts/cob $50 x1. Pin type heat sink doesn't need active cooling.

or the HLG-240H-C1750 will drive 2 cobs at about 125w each so just use 2 drivers for 4 cobs.
or the HLG-320H-C1050 or 120H etc etc.
You can use many different meanwell drivers but nobody can tell you which until you specify your needs related to your grow space.

I plan to use PIN heatsinks and am hoping to run them at 50w each cob for best efficiency.

They are very efficient at that wattage but 200W is nowhere near enough light to adequately flower 12 square foot.

You would need 6 or preferably 8 for that space at that wattage.

If I was you I would run your 4 cobs at 100W each then when you can afford it, get another 4 and run them at 50W. The C version are made for it. Yuo do not need fans either. I have been running my Vero 29 C @ ~94W on pin heatsinks with no active cooling for 8 months. You just need good air circulation in your room.

Hi!
I'm curious to know your opinion concerning the results you get with the 29C @94W each: good harvest? did you weight it (gr/W?).. buds size.. etc. I ask you because I'm still hesitating to run them @1400mA.

It depends on the strain but for example: Blue Dream - 522 grams of buds plus about 100 grams of lower buds that went to making hash. So I would say 1.5g/w easily with a good yielding strain.

I will say I have 2 of these setups so some of the light spills over from one to the other.

If you have the money it is always better to get more cobs and drive them at a lower current. I am about to add 4 more cobs so I will have 6 cobs over each tray and I will dim them down a bit. But to start off and try them out you cant go wrong with the mighty Vero 29C @ 1400

You could use the hlg-320-2100b that would allow you to run the cobs at 1050 ma topping out around 75w per chip.

Thanks for the replies yall. i know its not enough light for the whole space but will supplement with CFLs & ad some quantum boards to that closet in the near future.

PPFD will be mid 700s if you run them at 1400ma. Would be worthwhile to bump that up a little but not bad.

I ended up getting a hlg-320-2100b , 4x vero29 C & 4x pin fin heat sinks from www.rapidled.com. Was stoked to find out that they are in South San Francisco, I received free shipping and my light is already up and running.

Should I get reflectors and lenses? do they really make the light more intense ?

you must have vero D

that driver wouldnt light up 4 vero C at 2100 mA (they'd be 150W ea)

if you need to focus. they'll cost you 5% of the light though, so unless youre shining out away from your plants you dont need them

I use Veros and I added lenses to one light and left them off the other. I did 2 runs under each light then promptly removed the lenses and threw them in the bin.

C's are the most efficient, D's are the least efficient. Run them at 75 or 100 watts imo. For a 3 x 4 I would get at least 6 of them and run them at 100 watts each, or get 8 and run them at 75 watts each.

That driver will light 4 C's if wired in parralel and series.

two parallel strings. The driver is the hottest part. Im gonna make an extra long power cable using an old IEC cable and hang the driver outside the closet.

good to know, i am running 4 vero 29 C with a hlg 240h-c700, with active cooling, i would like to run these cobs at 1a or 1.4 A, , do you thinks these http://www.rapidled.com/140mm-pin-heatsink/ would be enough for 70w-100w?
