Forget Mars hydro .... Those pinky disco panels are garbage , I used them like a dumbass and regret it. I actually GUTTED one and replaced with quantum board and it blew the original out of the water. They use cheap / B stock epistar LEDs throttled down to prolong life. They burn out , they melt the lens ( ir chip ) and burn out.

Shitty drivers that are inefficient. ........ Yes they " do " grow pot but a very unimpressive plant.

You have choices ...
CFL " can grow " if properly lighting plant ( surround ).
T-5 rigs are another great option.
Typical HID SETUPS are pizza ovens

There are built 2 cob rigs out there ...
There is also Quantum Boards ... A fantastic option.
They sell out fast and are stupid simple to put together.

@robincnn and @Stephenj37826 will direct you to the proper KIT for your space.
Seriously .... Look into these plus the grows using these.

you can get TCI strips from ebay. they are 23w each and come with a very efficient dimmable driver. you get 5 strips for 50$ with free shipping. you can mount to an HLG 2QB slate or 4QB slate with thermal tape. they are 154 lm/w and each order of 10 strips spews about 35,000 lumens. i built mine for about 150$ before i added UVa and photo/far red diodes. i only added that stuff because i spent so little. Im now about at $250 for the build.

the dimensions of each strip is 16.7" x 1.75" or 424.2mm x 44.5mm and a 4qb heatsink is 600mm x 600mm

personally, i cut 2" aluminum u channel to 17" sections for the strips and 3/4" u channel for the monochromatic diodes.

cheers

Waste of time and money to grow plants that small.

I love how these wanna be growers are the ones giving all the advice, classic case of the blind leading the deaf.

More pictures please I have a great time laughing at your feeble attempts to grow a half ounce of buds.

mmmm nah.. me and countless other members are growing personal medicine with inputs we hand choose. The wires are all properly covered and elevated. I know what i am doing when it comes to electronics. I am an electrical engineer. Could it be neater in there? sure, no doubt

I think you had some good ideas already.

1. save money for a better solution. do it right, or buy it twice.
2. look at other lights. you can find used gear easy, at very reasonable prices.

Why does everyone assume you can't have a decent light for $200? Those TCI strips from eBay will do the job no problem for veg and flower. For $150 you can have over 30w/sqft in a 3x3. With all dimmable drivers and a choice of spectrum.
Or I suppose you could pay an extra $200 and have some company stick it all together for you and print their name on an oversized heatsink.

The saying is the blind leading the blind. It's want to be. It would be a half ounce of bud, bud being plural. If you're going to insult people you may as well use proper grammar.

So a 600w mars hydro would not be better then my current 8 23w cfls setup
Yes it would brother. The people chiming in don't care about your needs or what works for you. These are the people who are very serious about growing and they all consider themselves professional growers. They can't under stand the concept that u just want a cheep set up to fill ur personal needs. As far as they are concerned... if it aint their way it don't work. These people telling you that led lights don't work or that they burn out after a few months have obviously never owned one or if they did they bought the worst one possible and had bad luck with it. Or maybe it was operator error. Get yourself a cheap blurpy to get going. you'll love it.

When you do get some extra cash you would really be happy upgrading to something like this...

What tempature are your 23w cfls? I have 4 23 watt 6500k cfls and 4 23 watt 4200k cfls in my flower tent along with 450w vipar spectra and 400watt hps. Each reflector has one of each cfl ( so 2 per reflector) . So 4 reflectors total. One hanging down in each corner of my tent where light is the weakest. If I were you. id snap a 450w viparspectra ( $139.99). Hang that directly above your single plant. then dangle the 8 cfls around the plant at different heights for better side lighting. I think that would be very sufficient for just one plant
It sure would!
