What is your experience/opinion about Soil vs Coco Expected Yields?

Hello all, I have a scenario were girl scout cookie was grown in soil and another in coco (which excuse my ignorance and someone can correct me if I am wrong.) Is a hydro soil. Anyway, in soil from 16 plants 2lbs is produced. (I know I here a lot of you going why so little.) That is why I am posting this to figure out a problem if there is one. I was told that on average in soil to expect anywhere from 2-4 ounces per plant when grown in soil medium. If grown in coco which as stated earlier, to me is a hydro soil, meaning there are multiple feeding in one light cycle. That also means that you are getting more nutrients to the plant to increase yields. For the coco soil 2lbs was produced from 13 plants, but I think one of the reasons the yield was so low was because there was no climate control so when temps dropped to single digits the room was to cold when lights were off causing the plant to stunt its growth. When a single plant was grown in coco it supposed produced 12 ounces, climate and everything was fine at the time. :weed: Sorry if this sounds confusing but I am not a hydro grower I thought about experimenting with it, but then I thought it was to expense and required a lot more work that your traditional dirt/soil garden. I hope to hear some good feedback from you guys. Thanks:joint:

You can treat coco like soil as long as your pot size is sufficient. Alot of people like running smaller size containers like 1-2gal which make multiple feedings during the light cycle a necessity. If you bump up your pot size to a 5, 7 or 10. You can get the benefits of coco(aeration, neutrality, good cec,etc..) but still have the easy going style that soil can bring having to water every other day or so. I go about 70% coco(loose bagged brands only) and the rest #4 perlite. Ph from 5.7-6.3 with any nute company. Be careful with the cal mag and your off too the races!
In regard to yield coco usually does better IME
Without knowing your space, your wattage, your pot size, your climate, and your genetics.....its hard to say whats going on with your situation.
One thing is for sure is cold temps(under 65f) will reduce your yields so keeps those night time temps up

What's up big hustle? Thanks for the response okay specifics are as follows: Both rooms are growing Girl Scout Cookie and size is about 100sqf (10'X10'), pot size 3-5 gal. Soil room wattage is 3400w hps with climate control. Coco room has 4000w hps and no climate control, netted. when the 12 ounces was produced it was in a (4'X8') grow tent 1 plant per 1000w hps 15+ gal. pot and it was netted/SCROG whatever the heck it's called...lol

if you want larger yields go with a larger yielding strain. girl scout cookies don't yield much at all. You did very well for your yield imo

What's up Hyroot? Thanks for the compliment, I thought I did okay with my soil grow. The person that did the coco soil grow thought it was a waste of energy, but he didn't seem to want to hear the common knowledge behind the yields. he was stuck on the position of the lights and not the other factors like feeding, soil type, and most importantly climate control. His idea is if you concentrate the lights on one large area he will automatically produce more, although that does play a role, its not the reason for the high yields. I think the multi feedings in coco made a large difference.

next time he spews bull shit. either ignore him or just say " What ever you say. If I were you I wouldn't say that in public"

Any experienced grower knows its genetics, environment, health of plant and soil, nutes before lighting ever plays a roll... thats why some people pull a half pound off 200 watts cree led lights from home depot with pure organics

Nice, I have been interested in the LED grows. Is he using a grow tent or is he just set up in a closet? I have been hearing about high yields from LEDS for a couple of years now.:weed:

he does a couple tents.. thats captain morgan.. I do a room with induction and led..

I prefer peatmoss. you cant do living soil with just coco only.
