What kind of led should I use?

Hello everyone.
I`v been using the 5 bend 90w prosource worldwide for a couple of month now.
Im growing on soil in a small enclosure. (0.5*0.5m) (20*20 inch).
Im pretty happy with the results although I`v never used any other light so I cant compare. any way, I`m planing to get bigger!
I`m building a new growing area which will have a vegetative space and a flowering space, each one about 40*40 inch. the plan is to use 2 cfl 120w each+ the 90w led for the vegetative space so the quetion is: which led light should I use for flowering?
actually it`s 2 questions:
1. how many watt do i need for a 40*40 inch space?
2. which company? now, see a lot of them on the web all is very convincing, so I would love to hear from your personal experience.

thaks alot for your help.

40 inch x 40 inch I use a 600 hps in so I would think in that size tent go with 600 actual watts. MAybe 2-500 watt blackstars.

That's the thing with led you need a big light to fill a space like that.. A 240 bs is only good for 1.5 x 1.5 area so you can do 2-240 bs tbh I would just use a 400 cmh or a hps

mh/hps is out of the question due to heat problem, but you made me think...maybe Im getting to big... how many plants do you think I can fit under 240w?

2-3 plants tops.. Anything more than that you will need supplemental light. Frm what I've seen and hear the 240 will do great with plants under a scrog because it lacks penetration.

Thank again for your help, I`ll may indeed go for the BS 240w. unless anyone have another suggestion?

Well I haven't heard much about htg led light nd I don't think htg did either so I would go with blackstar just for that reason. These systems are not cheap so go with something tht u know will give results

LED Grow Lights are a great way to go these days. You have to be careful though because many companies are charging way too much. Do your research and really look around for the best price because the quality of all the high output LED grow lights on the market today are very much the same. Hope this helps.

that`s good to know.
since i`v seen other 240-300w at 500$ or more which is way too much then what I`m willing to spend.
I think I`ll go for the BS 240w.
Thanks.

Just keep in mind that the Blackstar 240w only pulls about 115-135 true watts and has a one year warranty.

I dont know what htg's panels pull nor what their warranty is. I'd definitely find that info out before deciding either way.

Good luck with your purchase.

The BS240w was already my second purchase. I started with a BS180w. (Which draws 105w).

I'm happy enough with the units. I only got the BS240 because I put a bid on a panel on eBay and won it for a super low price. I'm not sure I would have bought one new. I'm always placing super low bids on eBay in hopes that i win now and again. Sometimes it works. it this case I got a steal.

In any case the short of the answer is, No I wouldn't buy another Blackstar panel. The panel's themselves work fine for what they cost. My main issue with Blackstars is the one year warranty and the issues I have already had with the panels. And issues I've seen others have.

Plus, I'd simply like to try panels from another company. There are so many new great panels on the market right now, And more to come by the time I'm ready to upgrade.

if you look at this thread you might change your mind on Blackstar, I would, I have. He just sold his broken blackstar for next to nothing on ebay and went back to hps...

You should go with longer warranty if you are about to spend that kind of cash. now you say a veg room and a flower room, both 4x4? it makes no sense to have same size for both. With a 4x4 flower room, your previous room would be almost big enough to veg (you could keep your plants in 4''x4'' container until you transplant them to flower, you will be surprized how big they will get), if you got 2 tents the same size and thats what you got you may want to look into 12/12 froms seed and just have both tents always on flowering mode, it will save you power. body is right though, you need a lot of wattage, if you dont want to be disappointed with leds... I mean you could get a way with 4-500watts if you go multiple panels and you scrog like a pro.

your info is extremely helpful so far, but now I`m even more confuse...
let me draw you a clearer picture so I can enjoy your great experience :)
Till now I used this small enclosure. it wasnt ideal but that was all I had. now i have a small room ( dont ask me how, its a long story...)
size 6.5x6.5 which Im gona use exclusively for growing. im going to build everything my self (closet and all...) id like to grow about 2-3 plant at a time, and since i already got 90w ufo+ 2x120w cfl i was planning to build 2 closets (veg+flowering) i figure i can get more yield this way. for this purpose im going to get more light. HPS is out of the question cause i live in a hot area. I want to spend something around 300$ (+-). as you probably figured from my English, I live outside the u.s so my buying option are a bit limited. (not every company ship worldwide and if so, shipping is extremely expensive).
BUT, I have a friend coming from NY next month, so I need to decide quickly which led to buy so PLEASE give me some names, companies and anything u can think of regarding how to plan my next growing area.
thank you so much for your help!
