What LP have you signed up with and how would you rate them?

So, I'm with Peace Naturals atm. My opinion of them has changed a few times since first signing up for this b.s system based on the quality of their product and how the company chooses to do things. My first two orders (tuck, sour chrome and M.D) were good quality. Nice taste and smell. Flushed properly and nice looking buds. My third order was a different story. I was basically forced to order Chrome as Tuck and Sour Chrome have now been discontinued and it was also the only strain available worth buying based in THC and CBD levels. It had almost no smell what so ever and tastes like eating an ashtray. So I got to thinking about maybe switjching LPs until this whole mess gets sorted out and I can grow my own medicine. So now I am curious as to where everyone has sigmed up and how they would rate their experience.

Most people i've talked to around here haven't even bothered signing up and are waiting to see what happens come April 1st. They are getting their meds either from the come cashin' club err I mean compassion club or the ever popular "friend of a friend". It is unacceptable to be "sold out" of medicine in my book. It is also unacceptable to offer a bullshit number of strains as most these LPs seem to be doing. I like to use like 4 different sativas, 2 indicas and 6 hybrids, i rotate these when i can find them, usually 1 sativa/indica/hybrid at a time for all my needs, these are strains i've found that work for me and hopefully i can find more. Only seen like 1 out 12 of the strains that work offered by an LP so far. I wish you luck in your endeavor to find a better LP. The majority of reviews out there for existing LPs have not been favorable and most new LPs won't have product til summer/fall.

Signed up at Peace Naturals. Am hoping that things get better real quick. I'm also pretty worried about those new varieties priced 50% higher at $9.50/g. Not good.

May I ask what your prescription is? When did the price go up? So you now have less choice for more money? Seems a little backwards.

I am allowed 150g/month. I have tried a couple varieties of PN's stuff and it seems good. So far it's been Happy Feet and Chrome, which I got at $6/g. I had no complaints. Their lack of product is an issue, but I'm really concerned that in the last week or so they've put up 2 new varieties, Sam & Monroe, which are priced at 50% higher than the other types. If they begin to move to a new standardized price point, that will be an issue for me.

That really sucks. Were you able to get it all at once or did you have to pay for multiple shipments? Sounds like they know how hard it will be for people to keep moving from lp to lp. I'd be asking them about that price increase.

I am allowed to order the whole 150 at once. I didn't cause I didn't know what it would be like, and decided to make a couple smaller orders to try it out.

And yeah, I asked PN about the higher priced stuff and got a rambling explanation about how this special stuff has fancy terpene levels that require extensive testing which drives production costs higher. My first thought was "Really".

Anyway, as I said, their stuff is good, and if they can sort out their other production issues and start having a a regular supply on hand at all times, then they will be fine. I'm hoping this is just teething pains. I imagine that the others will go through similar problems on start-up. And that is the main fact on the ground - as of today you just don't have a lot of choice. Six - twelve months from now the market will look substantially different. 3 years from now it will have totally changed from what anyone had thought.

All I know is that for the first time in years I had an entire week where I took very minimal amounts of my other medications. 1 each of the heavy hitters, and 3 tylenol #1s. To me that is success. (And it was a really busy week at work.) Maybe I'll go skiing this weekend. :weed:

Your post rings true, your candor is refreshing, and thank you for all the info.

It sure is nice to hear about all the different success stories people have had with cannabis too.

Do you have any reasons for using an LP instead of the black market, that you are willing to share with us?

I think your reasons might surprise some and open the minds of others.

May the powder be deep and the sun be shinning...

I got into this just recently. So I've never had the opportunity to participate in the other program and decide on it's positives or negatives.

At the end of January there weren't a lot of options. I chose Peace Naturals because they seemed to have a good selection (if not supply) and they didn't have the bad name of CanniMed (who my cousin with MS warned me about) and didn't treat me like a moron with some funky red/orange colour scheme. As I said before, the PN situation is not great, but I understand how business works and I am willing to cut them a little slack.

At no time did I consider growing my own, although as a very experienced gardener I would have no problems with doing so. Firstly, I didn't want to wait months to be able to harvest my first batch. Right now my job doesn't allow me to spend the time required to take care of a bunch of indoor plants (heck my boston fern died last week). I travel with my job and work the occasional evening and weekend which cuts down on my time. I live in Northern Ontario where there are no compassion clubs so that is not an option. I haven't lived here long enough to know any black market suppliers. As a goodie-two shoes I probably wouldn't know one if I tripped over him/her anyways.

The ability to pick up the phone and order what I need is important. I also feel better knowing that with my card and the label on my bottle I can travel anywhere, anytime, even through airports. That is a peace of mind that works for me.

At the end of the day that's what it comes down to. I need to be able to do my job and I will use whatever tools are available to do that in the most efficient manner.

I should note that my job requires that I deal with business people, politicians and cops on a daily basis. I need to be legit.

So for me that's what it boils down to: Easy, legit and a company that treats me like an intelligent adult. I think LPs need to take into account that the main users of their service are likely to be people who can afford it. Educated, middle class, with good jobs and good paycheques. These people are not stupid, they are informed consumers, most of them will take the time to investigate all their options and make the decision that works best for their circumstances.

Treat me like an educated, intelligent medical patient. Not like a pot-head who is only in it to get high. Or somebody who doesn't know what they are talking about.

edited to add: remember - I am spending more than the price of a new car on this every month, and I can't claim 80% of it on my health plan like my other meds. So I have made the decision to make a major financial investment in my health.

Wow! I couldn't afford to make that kind of investment. I would have to give up some pretty substantial and important aspects of my life like food and shelter so, that won't be happening anytime soon. I'm starting to think this is Harpers way of dealing with big prescriptions as people who don't have a large income won't be buying from lps. How will you deal with needing more? If that happens.

lol... Right now I'm using the money that used to go into my RRSP, and I'm praying for the day that the health plans start covering it.

I signed up for the program beacause its basically the only real option atm. I could go with black market supply but its more expensive and I need it for medical reasons so I figured that I might as well be a legit patient and make ssure I am safe to use my medication legally. I am seriously hoping that this new system gets overturned and I can just grow my own. Atm I would not risk it simply because if I ever got busted I jave a wife and child that rely on me to provide for them and I will not risk their well being so I can grow. However the minute I can thats exactly what ill be doing!

Hi Northern lass.....that's gonna suck when the time comes to retire....I too was hoping our plan might cover it....but it won't and the only real way to offset the costs are to claim them as medical expenses come tax time....
so save your receipts....lol

Symptum....
we understand for sure...no one here would ever fault any of you guys for buying....what other legal choices are there? None....
most of us are unhappy about HC holding a gun to our heads
