Hi, Ive recently purchased a 150w hps light and ballast and am looking for something to grow in that can be disguised as a normal piece of furniture; stealth is the key.
Some ideas:
Tall Chest of Drawers on ebay; Height 115cm Width 49cm Depth 39cm - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tall-Narrow-Natural-Pine-4-drawer-chest-drawers-bedroom-/170770734404?pt=UK_Bedroom_Furniture&hash=item27c2ba9d44
Other cheap furniture Ive found are wider but you loose some height (around 85cm high); other chest of drawers or cupboards from Argos.

This cab will be vented by 5/6 120mm pc fans and a small clip on fan for circulation.

Let me know your thoughts, cheers, peace x

I think you've gone about this backwards.
First you pick your grow space/area, then you figure out the best way to light it.
Regardless, a 150W HPS is flexible enough to fit all kinds of boxes.

The "answer", I think, is that its entirely up to you to decide what will work in your circumstances. All sorts of boxes or cabinets "could" work, so long as you take the time to ensure they're ventilated properly, are light and odor proof. People build successful stealth growboxes inside of computer cases, desks, storage cabinets, refrigerators, steamer trunks, etc.

The box you linked to on Ebay could work, so long as you are willing to rework it to build the interior correctly. You'll have to break open all the drawers and create some sort of door opening to access the inside. Not trivial to do, but it certainly can be done.

I'd say all else being equal, you'd want something at least a meter high to make growing and training your plants easier, with taller being better.
Too big isn't really a problem because you can always partition off the inside grow area.

You also can get away with smaller, it just means smaller plants, and/or more work for you in training them.

Cheers for the reply back Jogro; ive purchased the chest of drawers. Is 39db loud for fans ? i want this to be relatively silent; so no unwanted ears pick up on it. Some 120mm computer fans off ebay; 78CFM but run at 39db. What do you think, too loud or ?

Cheers again, peace x
