When to add light

I've read through most of the instructional threads, and did some searching, but I seem to find conflicting info...

At what point do you begin giving light? Is it as soon as you put the seedling into the soil, or after you see the first signs of sprouting through the soil?

Please excuse my ignorance, and thanks for all the good info that I've already found here.

When it sprouts, but if you don't care about wasting energy you can leave it on as soon as you seed too.

Thanks! I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed , but with all the great info on these forums, I'm hoping for the best. Wish me luck.

just leave them in the dark till they poke there head out of the dirt or under a cfl (compact flourecent light) any other lighting ie hps use from a very high height untill the plant has started to grow straight up and astablish its self just depends on how you feel about the electric
