This is my first grow attemp, and as a result i'm not exactly sure

when to switch to 12/12. here are some recent pics on dec 5, i would love

some feedback
after you take cuttings from each of your plants.
there about as big as mine.
you could subtract an hour each day until there down to
12/12, that way you'd get a little more veg time on the way to
12/12

Yeah, umm, what the guy above me said. You're going to need bigger pots because if you don't let the roots grow as they would like your going to have to deal with your plant being root bound. The bottom leaves will start to turn completely yellow. So get bigger pots. And the best time to start flowering is when they start to show pre-flowers. But must people induce flowering when it is needed so the plants don't grow so tall that it grows beyond the limited grow space they have. Some people start flowering after 15 days, some 2 months. Its really up to you. But the healthiest thing for the plant is waiting until it shows pre-flowers. But you can induce flowering now if you would like. Keep in mind that most plants will double when you induce flowering. So make sure your grow space will be able to accomodate the size of growth.

i thought when i transplanted from the small plant holder these pots would be the perminate home for my ladies, these are 8" pots. would i be best off moving them to 10" or even 12". what do pre-flowers look like? like i said i am completly new at this. the room is 2x5xabout6-7 with a shelf on top.... and i have a 400w hortilux super hps grow bulb

pre-flowers are the first signs of sex... female have two little hairs coming off a small flower at the node... the male pre-sex flowers look like a little ball sac do a search, you'll see PLENTY of picture

Feel free to flower whenever YOU want... just remember a plant can double or triple its size from when you switch to 12/12 to harvest time (depending on strain). I just started mine to flower at shy of one foot... planning on getting 2-3 foot tall plants

It's time to take cuttings and then flower them now as soon as your smallest one is back to the size it is now after taking a cutting or two.

With a 400 there's no point in growing them more than they are now because with the number you have and the size they'll already end up you're set, you can't grow much larger plants than what these will be.

I would not transplant at this point, just flower and leave them as is. If you insist on vegging any longer then yes, repot to bigger pots.

they are about a foot tall, though i am not able to sex them. i have two older ladies, so i know what to look for, however as of yet i am not sure what they are. perhaps i will flower when i know the sex for sure. so bigger pots is a must?

thank you everyone for the advice. i guess i will move my fox farm schedual to last week of veg and start flowering this week. why take cuttings?

So you can always keep growing more of them and have a neverending supply of smoke. Also so you don't have to start from seed again, this way the cuttings you take before flowering these will be ready to go into flower when these are ready to come out.

No downtime, faster harvests, more bud.

I think what OregonMeds mean by taking cuttings, is to take cuttings to make clones, if you have some sort of SOG plan going. So therefore you dont have to use and buy more seed in the future.

Take cuttings from each plant, let them root, and it would be the an exact genentic copy of the plant you have taken it from.

YOu can either

1) let your clones root, and then flower them, to see if the plant you have taken them from are male or female.

2) take your clones from these lovely ladies of yours, let the ladies grow back a bit, and flower them under 12/12, if all your ladies are female but one, then you know, the clones you have taken are all female apart from the ones are taken from the one showing male....etc ..etc....

Then you dont have to guess if they are male or female on your next 12/12 cycle

hopes this answer your query.

I always keep a clone of the ones that I am flowering, when flowering I will notice some plants are Stronger (i.e. faster in growth, better root growth, yield more buds or even the buds from one plant taste nicer than others of the same strain-personal preference), I will keep a note of that, and then I would take cuttings from the stronger ones, and discard the "weaker" ones. (Should only have female by now). In time you will only be growing the one you like best out of the lot, Space limited ...AMEN

Your plants looking great !!

i'm not sure i am going to clone yet because i am unsure of thier genetics; i was thinking that i would buy good seeds online then have a known plant, please tell me what you guys think of seed purchasing online, and some decent sites

Put them in the biggest pots your grow space will allow, the bigger the better. Bigger root system = BIGGER buds. Put them in 12/12 now.

Take cuttings so you won't have to start from seed all over again. And plus you won't have to weed out any males if you take cuttings.

It saves you time, and money from buying more seeds. Taking cuttings and cloning them will save you at least 3 weeks.
